That's what I'm worried about, you see all the news stories of the current ISPs magically improving once Google Fiber moves in. Any 'utility' by government terms is highly regulated and has no market competition. Hell, t

Agree with all of you, was just trying to gauge the difference. The government regulates the utilities pretty tight, but there is also little to no room for competition in those spaces anymore either. Which is one thing that's improvin

I get what they're trying to accomplish, we all want faster more reliable service, but as comparison is anyone 100% happy with their utility (power, water, etc)? That's where this is headed.

If true, any suggestions on alternatives that work just as well as this (used) to?

I think a big problem is that science, by and large, doesn't control their message. News media does. Come to think of it, science related stories about what food is/isn't good for you etc are the original clickbait. They'

I like this.. Most of the corporate type jobs I've worked in over the years afforded lots of responsibility for flexible work location. Some of those jobs I could never work from home and get anything done, others was just fine. The ot

Little known fact, Geek Squad actually used to have locations in certain FedEx Kinko's stores (when they were still together). They decided not to expand the program, figured this was the natural result. Source: Used to work for Geek S

I bought a StandDesk via the KickStarter, it's more affordable than most decent offerings out there. The only pain was the surprise shipping charge at time of delivery (it was way more than advertised). Regardless, I'm excited to

Perfect move by Tesla, they've hit a wall on progress that the big auto companies and government will allow. Let's see what a mob of similar armed companies will do.

The approach can just change. If YC wants to come out and say "I support policy XY and/or Z" and I go find the candidate that matches that, awesome! I'm sick of businesses endorsing people or party via fundraiser. Suppor

I don't think that's completely true. The point is for many that we all complain about how businesses get breaks from the government, and vice versa. Then things like this happen and we are all supposed to be "OK" with i

But it's not the President. It's the DNC. They just happen to be bringing along the President, right?

This just all goes back to the seemingly unholy relationship between business and government these days. It shouldn't matter what party and what capacity. They just shouldn't be related, much less running fundraisers. Even if it&#

I can't really handle this... Is this what we've become? So short sighted? I know few who didn't want to blow up the entire middle east after 9/11, right, wrong, or indifferent. I'm also fairly sure government was r

For real, I mean I'd even be open to taking a paycut for something like that too. There are quite a few companies I'd love to work for as a Product Manager, Solution Architect, or Community Manager (I've done a lot). But I ca

I wish more companies had this mentality, it's amazing how much talent pool they are leaving out there by not allowing remote work for some positions. Especially for those of us that live in the Midwest but cannot leave for any number

Working in a SaaS company moving to a more API strategy, this is something that's not discussed enough. The sales process is VERY different in an API based model than it is in a "here is a box" model. Interesting to see the p
