Setting up ad hoc (aka standalone) Spark cluster with a bunch of machines you have control over is ridiculously trivial task though. It's as easy as running spark --master=x where you designate one machine as master. All others started

Once your datasets go out of the bounds of single reasonable machine, it's time to switch to Apache Spark cluster (or similar). You can still write your data analysis code in Python, but you get to leverage multiple machines and intell

I thought it was common knowledge that you should not rely on system provided Python, Ruby, Tcl etc. They are there for scripting the system and nothing else. If you are Python developer, install specific version your project needs and use

This was complicated by the fact that PPC was big endian and Intel is little endian. If software assumed byte order when twiddling bits, etc, you could not just recompile it.

BASH is outdated, but I compile the latest version and install it in /bin (I have system integrity protection turned off). Other UNIX utilities are actually standard POSIX ones. If you are used to GNU extensions to these on Linux, then

You can write vim extensions in python, Perl, ruby, lua and of course viml. And vim launches in milliseconds, so no need to keep it running in the background as some text editing server.

Not all exercise is the same when it comes to brain benefits. Moderate to hard endurance exercise makes your brain secrete BDNF. And you need to perform it at least 3 times a week for 20-30 min minimum to notice any benefits. Strength train

Unfortunately, AlphaZero is private and no one has access to either the code (as commercial product) or resources it needs to run (TPUs). So, only Google can do this experiment.

I would like to see a rematch with Stockfish configured correctly. I give Stockfish at least 1 GB of hash per thread. In AlphaZero match they had 64 threads and only 1 GB of hash for all of them. No one knows how Stockfish behaves with that

If your use case is so simple that essentially any browser meets your needs, why do you find it strange that others might have different needs? I never understood why people have such a hard time with choice. And why saying something no lon

As far as I'm concerned Firefox is dead. I'm sticking with 56 and Pentadactyl for the times I need to do extensive research online where it is so much faster to browse and find things. Otherwise, I'm using Safari and weaning

I never said I am commuting on $5k road bike. I just compared the price of the electric car to price of high end carbon fiber road bike (which I have, but don't use for commuting to work). I commute on cheap mountain bike. Too many pot

Yes in newest versions it does. But for any non-trivial analytics you would use Apache Spark (most likely Spark/SQL). Cassandra's CQL is very limited in terms of types of queries it supports.

Actually bash 3.2 is GPL v2.0. Later versions switched to GPL v3 and this is why Apple is not updating to newer version. Give it a few more years and there will be no one left at Apple that has any clue what bash is.
