Nice. I'm all for making the most of my purchases, and when the time comes I'll get something more efficient etc - nonetheless, fingers crossed that'll be another decade. My hi-fi system is 25 coming up on 26 years old. Rotel

Oh thanks! I didn't realise this was a possibility. Edit: Ah the flat ones are still fine, they have decent glass in them - it's the plastic milk/bottle door bins (also called bottle shelves or guards) that are cracking up.

As we are discussing anecdotes, my Samsung fridge is over 15 years old and still ticking along ok. I've cracked one of the plastic shelves and it's hard to get replacement parts, that's all. And for a nearby post: Older phone

I think you last point is very important. For overall health, going for "failure" in weight lifting appears to be the delusional to me; it's much better to lift at a consistent, repeatable level than to greatly increase the r

This. They've been fighting the EV transition tooth and nails, it really needs to be called out. I mean, how nice an EV would that new Insight of theirs just released have been? The design is gorgeous. Instead we get yet another hybrid

Absolutely. As an EV owner who wants to keep his car for at least ten years, it doesn't make sense to me to dull out the high capacity batteries to support the grid. It seems to me that it would be better to use recycled batteries for

On my S21 Ultra the viewfinder will sometimes show a brightened image, to what I would prefer. A long hold on the focus point brings up an exposure slider, which lets you easily darken the image. It works really well, but the Samsung doesn&

Over twenty years in Australia and I still haven't gotten used to it (being 32C / 89.6F) on Christmas. So I do miss that, to be honest. The difference to my family's place in Norway right now (-21C/-5.8F) is stark. As a

As a somewhat responsible parent I see TikTok as intellectual poison, or attention pornography at best. It is banned in my house. (I grew up on the Vic20/C64/Amiga etc; am not a Luddite).

To me it would be the opposite; we all have our faults, so how do they manage the feats that they do? There's no point idolizing people for their accomplishments in the "they must be perfect" kind of way. Ie I look at John an
