I use Bootstrap in this way. I just pulled the components I wanted, and appreciate how self-contained it is.

It seems like the beginning of the end was the EDS integration. My guess is that the "Global IT Services" group is behind this "new" strategy (which is the same strategy IBM Global Services implemented more than a decade ago to great succ

I don't really understand Dropbox's strategy. As a service, Dropbox does one thing pretty well – syncing data so that users can get a more or less seamless online/offline experience using data that's shared on multiple devices. However, sh

On the flipside, you're more likely to be developing for a lot of different versions of that OS, and – over time – you'll be developing for the lowest common denominator among them.

It's hard to relate to the excitement when the demo was chock-full of usability failure. How many times did the presenters struggle to register their gestures? Someone will no doubt say "it's a developer release – we'll fix all that". My

I'm the last one to hold his breath for fear of vaporware, but I have high hopes for a new Sproutcore UI kit. I want robust client-side UI elements that bind easily to a REST API. I feel like we're right on the cusp of that revolution.

I've learned from experience to run away from these kinds of UI kits. I always end up hacking around their shortcomings (e.g., tokenized inputs with autocomplete, etc.) This one does seem to have a nice, compact, intelligible stylesheet, t

Exactly. If you want a laugh, try going back to magazines in 1998 and see who they were putting their money on back then.

On the other hand, Dropbox has been stagnating despite its success. For example: how long will it take for Dropbox to allow read-only sharing on Dropbox volumes? Not to mention their facepalm-worthy security blunders this year.

Where do you get that info from? Isn't it a little early to extrapolate long-term uptime stats for a new service like O365? Maybe you were referring to the cloud infrastructure only, and not the app layer?

Again, it's not that I can't grok it – it's that I shouldn't have to. I get no sense of pride from hacking a Windows upgrade into a clean installer. Empty victory, etc. Also, my benchmark is the Lion upgrade. That's how it's supposed t

Thanks for pointing me to that. I wasn't able to determine the real-world impact of the limited BIOS support. Anyway, I use Windows for exactly one thing: accessing (horrible) web apps that require IE. My original point was that the insta
