You do realize, even in the EB system, there are per-country caps based on the country of birth? Which means, if you are from India and are waiting in the EB2 queue, you have to painfully maintain H1-B status for 15-20 years.

I don't think you understand. EB2 actually has per-country caps. Once you are in the Eb2 queue, you have to wait 15-20 years if you were born in India. That is what needs to be fixed. The process should be completely merit based.

Yeah, but why not make it merit based? Currently it uses an arbitrary value of where you are born. This forces people from India to stay on H1-B for 15-20 years, and prevents them from easily changing jobs or opening a business.

One important thing that Canada gets right is the process to get PR. If you are well qualified, its dead simple to get a Green Card. As opposed to the US where if you are born from India, you have to wait 15-20 years for a Green Card due to

Out of curiosity, has anyone who paid the $1000 to get in line for a Model 3 actually heard back from Tesla? I've never received any communication about timelines at all.

Google Seattle-Kirkland is the third largest Google office. I wouldn't classify it as "satellite".

The 20 minute quiet reading in the beginning is kinda different. At the other companies I've worked for, you were expected to come to the meeting having read the docs sent over email.

The pressure from consumers is in the favor of slimmer, sleeker gadgets. This causes manufacturers to use production techniques that make repairing impossible. So even if companies made every little detail about the internals of the product

Unlike others on this thread, I love where this is headed. I'd love to have a really smart bike. However, once I have that much tech on a bike, it would be impossible to park it anywhere without the risk of being stolen.

I prefer how Google Play Music does suggestions and wish Spotify could adopt some elements of the same. Eg. GPM does suggests things like: 1) Looks like you are at work, here's some music without lyrics for concentration. 2) Looks like

Actually, why is this not a potential legitimate business model? I let you stream content for free and you let me mine cryto-coins with your spare CPU cycles while you watch. Isn't that better for people who don't like all the tra

Given that git has such a distributed nature, couldn't you simply move over your code to Gitlab if and when Github actually is on the verge of shutting down? I'm glad that Gitlab exists, however the lazy person in me sees no immed

I'm not an AI expert either, but let me give this a try. I assume you are vaguely familiar with gradient descent. In gradient descent, we are basically trying to find the sweet spot where the value of a function is minimized. We do thi

I won't really comment about ML/AI in general. But, if you specifically care about getting into Deep Learning, I would say only bother looking into: - Basic linear algebra and matrix algebra. Since you would rely on frameworks lik

I like this pricing model compared to udacity's new nanodegrees. This works better for people who want to rush through the course as quickly as possible. It essentially encourages faster completion. You pay $49 per month and finish at

My apartment uses LuxerOne ( https://app.luxerone.com ), and it is the best amenity IMO. One problem of Amazon Hub v/s LuxerOne is that I don't think Amazon Hub will work with packages from other retailers.

No, I meant US permanent residency which takes 10+ years in EB2. For Canada, one can easily get a PR via Express Entry. Which is why many people like me are strongly considering Canada irrespective of salary.

One reason that is often over-looked is the green card backlog issue in the US that affects tech workers from India/China. I'd easily make the choice to move to Canada where I can get a green card right away rather than wait 10 ye
