Not sure if it is a coincidence you mentioning both technology and motorcycles in the same post. "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" is basically a book about exactly this (and much more of course). You might find somethin

Also worth mentioning kdb+ since the title doesn’t seem to limit choices to open source TSDB only.

Are you controlling all the writes? If so I’d go a phased migration .. easier to pull off and much lower risk than a big-bang one-off approach.

Isn’t this just a mispriced externality? I.e. if the late pickup fee was actually charged at market rates it would be what, $500? (random guess obviously)

Yeah something along these lines is my best guess as well. The fact that an online retailer actually has a physical device in the customers' home is actually a huge thing. Amazon takes away one competitive advantage from the offline re

I came across https://speaking.io _after_ I presented for the first time at a larger conference [1]. In hindsight it's so obvious -- Zach Holman really talks about the things that matter. So if you still have time, please d

Yeah, I noticed after posting that I probably should have linked some source to backup my statement. This is the article I’ve read in January: http://biz-journal.jp/i/2018/01/post_21873_entry.html It seems t

Hang in there! Don’t sign anything, find a good lawyer, get all the contracts etc. and put it in one folder. Keep the end in mind and don’t let the stress take over your thinking.

I was hoping someone would mention it! While it is a good book as well (and Kent Beck has many of them!) I tend to describe his book as 1st generation TDD. It certainly was a great breakthrough in 2002 but it misses some very good thoughts

Two options off the top of my head: 1/ Use the CBOE or CME futures for this. Just need to signup with a broker and sell a contract. 2/ Borrow BTC frome a holder. Agree to pay some interest. Then sell that BTC.

Compared to SBT. Last time I checked Scala support in both Buck and Bazel was very basic at best.

It is funny he mentiones Bazel in the article but some doesn’t consider Pants [1] at all. For me, not just in a work context, Pants is a clear winner. Most SBT project already have a bit of mono-repo flavour: main and sub-projects. Pants b

As always, it depends on the context. Do you know why you were hired? You mentioned "10 devs, QA, BA" .. maybe a good chance to talk to everyone and write down and later agree on a roles & responsibilities matrix. Same goes w
