Almost starting to feel bad for Groupon... then I read their S-1.

I just keep thinking how many terrible articles can be written about them before the IPO is scrapped. Their numbers are a joke.

I don't know if this info is limited to tech communities or what... Is the general consensus that this IPO seems very scammy outside of the tech world?

California can barely keep itself running - the odds of this great idea happening are 0 unfortunately.

We use five9, but they have downtime as well (they are hosted call center, not SIP). Super easy to use, expensive. Tried to get a quote from liveops, but they literally won't call back. Terrible sales staff.

Interesting analysis. Nothing will ever happen or be investigated though. The banks run the WH.

Usually there is a 6 month waiting period after IPO.

I agree - we tried salesforce at our company and you need a PhD to get anything custom done. Way too bloated for us and way too long of a training period - then add on top of that the custom functionality we needed and it got expensive VERY

Or that $1bn+ they've raised could have gone to this instead of cashing out the insiders...

Wow, Eric Lefkofsky owns a shit ton of that company, and already cashed out a decent chunk of change personally and through his various LLCs just recently. Never even heard of him before.

Business & Professions Code § 17529 Pre-empts it. www.DanHatesSpam.com

It's commercial email 100%. Probably a fake sender name (illegal), against gmail ToS, against CL ToS and no unsubscribe link and no one even subscribed in the first place. 100% against CAN-SPAM.

CAN-SPAM, sending from a fake address (illegal headers). CA has a specific law that pre-empts CAN-SPAM that definitely makes this illegal if sent from CA (don't ask how I know).

Not that I'm against what they're doing and if I was a VC I probably wouldn't care too much - but it's somewhat illegal in this case... Certainly against CL ToS as well.

A little off topics, vrbo was bought by homeaway, which recently filed to go public. Their whole model was to acquire every competitor and sort of monopolize the vacation rental market. I'm guessing they've probably made an offer on airbnb,

Can you add it where you can close & open (condense) comments? That would make the site much more user friendly. Is there a greasemonkey script for this?

I don't know much about mixpanel, how is it better and/or different than Google Analytics? Congrats on the funding.

Because he doesn't understand how hard it is to easily allow payments when so much fraud is out there - especially once you go int'l. He's just naive.

Looks more like a McKinsey line-up vs. a CEO line-up. We shall see how it goes - picking the brightest doesn't mean they'll be a good CEO.

I read somewhere that $900mm of the offered shares were from insiders, thus Yandex is only raising ~$400mm.

Agreed - but this is what happens when a 20 yr old is the CEO. Could MSFT have been started by contractors? I don't think so. Also, quickbooks online is 10X better, get those contractors working!
