The post did get flagged, which is a nice change. I personally get seriously tired of constant slashdot-isms that are used in posts regarding MS.

Man, the downvotes is hard in here. In case everyone couldn't tell I think that the incessant posting of "embrace, extend, extinguish" are really childish so I replied childishly. Do we need a sarcasm tag? EDIT: One day I wil

I think that FP gets a lot of coverage on this site because it's an interesting topic to lots of us...even though most of us won't ever even attempt it beyond a few samples. That being said...SICP 4 LIFE!

There needs to be a prize that goes to whoever uses this phrase first in a MS post. You, sir, are a winner.

Yay! OpenBSD does great work, I'm glad they are getting serious support now. Hopefully other large vendors do the same thing...I'm looking at you Intel, HP...

I think the main thing is to provide an abstraction for applications so that they aren't tightly coupled to the operating system of the server that's hosting them. That's a big deal. Some people have mentioned security...patc

81 years of bad faith? It's that kind of language that makes this difficult. Onerous acquisition regimes were put in place for machine guns because of the psychopaths that were running from county to county gunning down law enforcement

I have never... and I mean this... never heard an anti-gun person say that we should go door to door and take guns from people. I'm just saying. I take your point, I really do, but I think that you are overestimating the desire to have

Do you fault the progun people who over emphasize the successful prevention of home invasion by a gun owner even though its a statistical anomaly compared to a wife being killed by her husband? Or any close associate or family, for that mat

Gosh, there was a time in Texas when you could get ex soviet weapons like the SKS for 90$. Granted that was thirty years ago... You are very evenhanded about this subject. I would like to thank you for it.

Petzold is awesome. His blog has several articles he's written about his political views. I'm glad that someone with that kind of notoriety isn't afraid to write about politics.

LP needs to know that there is basically nothing that he can say that the vitriolic people will accept. He will always be evil and out to get their "free-dums". This is such a non-issue. How many people build systemd from scratch?
