If you're removing lifetimes from the script, I'm not sure how you're then transpiling to Rust, unless you wrap everything with reference counting, at which point you're better off using a language with GC.

That light flickering is quite cool, thanks for sharing. It reminds me of the Wilhelm scream, but on a much smaller scale of course.

This is an irrelevant tangent, but bots reposting content which previously was highly upvoted reminds me of exponential backoff in networking. The reposting serves as an automated way to maximally spread popular content to the widest range

I think it's unlikely for consciousness to exist in stars or in any population of thing which isn't subject to natural selection / evolution. It seems to me that it arises due to giving a competitive advantage for the populat

I spent the other day writing an archetype entity component system which made heavy use of template metaprogramming. I try to avoid this if possible, but it was an exercise in seeing how performant I could make it, and so I wanted to offloa

I get this logic, but in software development there is effectively an infinite and continually growing list of tasks to do. A lot of large and popular software projects on Github are not closing issues at a faster rate than they accrue.

There have been issues with the packaging of the app. I can't remember precisely, but I do remember some crashes due to mismatches of some expected library version in Debian family. I'm using the version on Flathub which seems to

It might be language or task dependent. I'm writing C++, and Claude is more likely to suggest things which simply won't compile. It feels like Claude 3's knowledge of C++ is a bit lacking comparatively.

For coding I've found ChatGPT4 a bit better than Claude 3 Opus because it tends to understand my intentions more and I trust it to make better suggestions for code changes. I think Claude has better writing style, and it's refresh

You can probably write runtime tests for this. Some system which queries for component Location, and then does an assert for each component that the associated entity also has a mesh. Granted, this is annoying and not a particularly great s

I'm on the latest Nvidia drivers (550), I have a 3080 video card, and I get something like 20 FPS in Plasma's Wayland session. They are crazy if they drop support for x11. Fedora was similarly crazy for making it the default when

That commit was updating the readme to remove a site which (presumably) was once valid but is now malicious. Looks like it's been 5 / 6 years since it's seen activity.

This is a good point, but AI also will allow us to enhance the video in other ways than upscaling, such as inserting (or replacing) CGI / special effects. We should be able to really up the visuals.

It doesn't need to be inefficient, it depends on the implementation. Immediate mode is describing the API and usage, you can implement it such that it's retained mode behind the scenes, or only redrawing when necessary, etc. I
