The ad issue is separate to me. They keep adding ads to more and more places in Windows 10, and each location has a different toggle to turn on / off. I turned off all advertising options in Windows 10 when I first installed, only to

If anyone wants a Windows laptop without bloatware, I think the best bet is through a Microsoft Store. They sell "signature edition" laptops which are supposed to contain Windows and nothing else. That's if the marketing is

If Mozilla was serious about repairing trust, they would make user studies opt-in instead of opt-out. As it stands now, they are performing experiments on users by default. When people say the Mr. Robot thing was a violation of privacy, I

I'm happy to see an apology, but there are further steps they could take. I just did a clean install of Firefox and unless I somehow messed that up, it looks like user studies are enabled by default. Someone correct me if I'm wr

Firefox isn't a website. This is contrary to user expectation. There is some degree of deceit present here which bothers me. They pushed out this advertisement through user studies, a feature that ostensibly exists and is designed to

I would also take issue with calling it an easter egg. It wasn't an easter egg. It was an advertisement. That they silently installed on people's computers without their notification or knowledge. That's not okay.

I tried arch out in 2016. Over a period of two weeks, 3 separate updates broke one thing or another. In my 4 years using mint / ubuntu, an update broke my machine once, and that was when the power went out during an update. Arch appar

I would hope that there would be massive backlash if we as a country tried to put advertising on our currency, because that's insane. It would be a fairly fitting illustration of what's wrong with modern society, though.

I've been using Firefox as my only browser for at least 12 years. If they go through with this, I'll switch to something else. I don't know how they could think that this is acceptable.

The change over to yahoo as the default search, as well as the ui changes a few years ago which made it a hassle to change search engines has, I would wager, done more harm to mozilla than whatever monetary benefit they gained from the swit

Civilization III was 2D as well. I agree with you though, there was something lost in the transition to 3D. Performance reasons alone is compelling argument to stick with 2D (turn wait times in Civ 5 were ridiculous). Not to mention that

It seems to me that it's healthy if we as a community are able to discuss issues with how the community is policed. Some may find it boring, but I'd argue that it's useful.
