I heard road rage explained in the same way. We would never act to each other face to face as we would in a car. The car feels like an extension of your own home and you feel more violated when someone invades what you perceive to be your

You are right. I've been away from megacorps for too long. Thinking of them as rational actors is a huge mistake. :) My point still stands that it is their product and it should be their choice even if they piss it away.

I really dislike the "it brings new users" argument for piracy. If it made business sense to provide a free entry to their product they would. Pirates aren't somehow doing them a favor and its moral acrobatics to pretend like they are. Fo

There are tons of good for you, cheap, quick to make meals if you have access to the most simple kitchen. A simple salad, sandwich or bowl at spaghetti at home is cheaper at McDonald's and much better for you. Lack of time shouldn't be a

My copy is on its way in the mail. I'm a huge SimCity fanatic and was slightly worried that when it got here I'd sink too much time in it and get behind on my work. Thanks EA!

The part that kills me about Borderlands 2 on OSX is when they finally released it you can't play with your character from steam... you haven't to make a new one.

I'm a little disappointed to be honest. Easier to approach, easier to optimize for... but since when has console development been an accessible market? Maybe its a naive outsiders view, but it will take more than a commodity instruction s

That's just because its young. The same could have been said for C in the long long ago. And honestly compared to most of whats out there, C is a tiny language. Give go time, it'll bloat ;)

"You'd have to get caught" isn't a way to do business. Plus it won't fly for those of us who work in giant megacorps with license audits.

XCode. GCC is now under GPLv3. I've got a feeling the patent issues in v3 give Apple lawyers a serious rash. Also with it being under BSD, they can write their own closed source extensions or reuse portions of their code in their own proj

I currently have an S3 and this isn't the first serious exploit I've come across for it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a serious secure phone? I don't need all the bells and whistles and don't install many apps. Mostly just email,

Whats the current state of the real-time patches for linux? Last I'd talk to someone about them, this was a while ago, they felt a bit sub-par. From a developer's point of view is it as easy to work with and predictable as VxWorks?

I've got a soft spot for the Z80 and they were considered out of date by the time I was born. A few years ago I found a great book on how to build a simple microcomputer based on the Z80. I learned a ton working through that book and that

The more interesting part is the ARM multi-platform support. 64 bit ARM cores haven't hit the market yet, but the ability to run one ARM kernel on several different hardware set ups is useful today.

So for this line of code: file_in, _ := ioutil.ReadFile("domains.txt") It says call ReadFile. In go a function can return multiple values. ReadFile returns an byte array and an error value. Normally you'd check to see if err is nil, if i

This is one of the things I love about go. If he wants the return value but doesn't want to address the errors, he has to actively do it. It makes you think twice when you are putting a _ for an error return. And now to another programme
