We use a lot of energy, its not surprising we emit it.

If I had an HVAC system I would absolutely have UV in it, to mitigate sick building syndrome etc. Can't comment on the price.

Can you have a socket that's only shared between a parent and child process? This sounds like it could be pretty useful.

I want a linter against this. I have a hatred for those kinds of docs, they take up screen space, its worse than nothing.

This completely ignores energy usage of "infinite" token usage. These things are somewhat useful, but it doesn't come for free, and I'm talking externalities here, which are not priced in.

The people selling the AIs probably initially wanted to replace seniors with juniors. Much like how Java was supposed to being us as an age where you didn't need to that good at coding 30 years ago.

If functionality is taken away from a device, e.g. this, locking down bootloaders etc the consumer should have the right to a refund.

Yeah it can, though rough is definitely the word. And sometimes the LLM just won't go in the direction you want, but that's OK - you just have to go write those bits of code. It can be suprising where it works and where it doesn&#

Felt like I was reading a lost on linkedin, with this talk of "leaders". Its just a kind of bad management vs a kind of good management.

This is so rubbish. I used to be an Android dev, and occasionally dabble. I use Android as I can put things on it. If its going to be closed, I may as well get an iPhone, or stick with open and get a Linux phone next.

A really big matrix is not getting trapped in psychosis, however if you feel someone's answers into it the right way, the reflection they get back might exacerbate their own condition.

They only do what's in their training, just like a choose your own adventure book that's already been written. Things only seem different in the LLM when we ask the same question because we dont use the same random seed each time.

I don't think you need to believe in a soul to disbelieve that LLMs can "be" or "feel". I don't think the clock on the wall is conscious, or the LLM in the machine, or the old VCR. Do you need a brain for there
