Well, yeah, that's absolutely expected. The promise of index funds isn't "you'll always make money!!" over any short-term period, the promise is that if the stock market as a whole increase, which it tends to do, yo

You're conflating index funds with S&P 500 Index funds, though. You can buy an index fund with _zero_ tech stocks. You can buy something like VINIX which has considerably less weight on the BigN tech firms.

This is wrong in two ways. First, the 10 dollar clones are ass, if you've ever tried one. Second, what the material cost is doesn't matter, at least on its own--a gifted airpod is one that's not sold. The opportunity cost is

I mean AFAIK Stripe's selling point is ease of developer use and stuff, not that they have looser risk assessment? It's fundamentally not really something payment processors can solve that if a company goes under with 100k in char

I would blame the CC and banks. Charge backs are expensive, and if the merchant can't fulfill them the payment processor is suddenly on the hook for a lot of money out of nowhere. It's a defense mechanism to make sure the customer

I mean given that it's a buffer it can't exactly be held as an illiquid asset. How much interest can you realistically get on this, and is it worth the risk if a bunch start going under and you need the liquidity now rather than l

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the author has a vested interest in not mentioning if they have increased chargeback or refund volume. It's not exactly an unbiased source.

Why make them leave? This gives them a sudden 10 day window to pack their shit and gtfo. People have year long leases. People have commitments. Even if they choose to leave, no doubt they would prefer to do it on their time, not with ICE br
