Brokers can't use client money to make the deposit.

Brokers are not allowed to touch client money to submit the deposit. That the purchases are settled cash on the user's account makes no difference, because none of that money Robinhood could use to clear the deposit.

While it's true that Robinhood has its own clearing firm, Robinhood securities is a NTCC member and is perusant to the same deposit requirements as everyone else. Just as Apex clearing had to raise capital deposits, so did Robinhood se

If you short gme you're about to be in very heavy debt to your broker. At least buy a put or something instead. I don't think anyone is actually long on gamestop at $350 per share, but trying to short is not about company expectat

The money in it is that it makes you more likely to deposit with that bank which gives them the reserves to legally lend out money, like in credit cards, which is how they make money. A consumer bank is dependent on its deposit base.

I think what he's saying is to just have a service that emulates what he described simplebank doing for him with Stripe Treasury and the banks that support it.

Maybe "doesn't matter" was too strong, but the point stands. The fact that the employee may eventually realize the folly in no way prevents damage from being done. In the 10 days or 1 day that it takes between realizing they

Phishing doesn't have to be a literal scam. The more insidious kind that companies are actually wary of are the ones intended to steal credentials and get into internal systems. Phishers can easily get what internal company emails look

I think good UberPool functionality is one. The routing for that is a lot harder technologically and prepandemic I did a lot of Uber pool rides, since in many cases I wasn't in a hurry and it was quite a bit cheaper.

Depends on the market. Uber makes money on rides in established urban areas, ie look at the NY or LA numbers.

Canada is even more puzzling. You can cross the border from Vancouver to Seattle and triple your salary, pay less in income taxes, and live in a city with less rent. All over less than 100 miles.

I am shocked at how much better DD's financials are than every other food delivery service. Was pretty skeptical because of that, but their gross margin improvement is huge and their net loss is relatively controlled.

It's extremely difficult to facilitate USD money movement if you're blacklisted by the US treasury. Just ask Iran. I suppose technically possible (again: ask Iran) but somehow I doubt Facebook is playing that game.

If you don't play by the US's rules you can't withdraw in USD. Which is the only fiat currency Diem supports conversion into right now.

Not really, the very idea of conservatism is based around not doing new things. Without passing judgement on whether or not that's a good policy standpoint, it's clear the parties are asymmetrical - one wants to pass new policies

Going from 14% to 27% in 2 weeks is a pretty extreme trend, especially in a market that's typically very slow moving, considering desktop upgrades occur at a far slower cadence than, say, mobile phones.
