I think the only benefit is that it does less, so less code, less maintainance or things going wrong? But Sprockets is certainly battle tested and maybe better choice for many right now.

Yes and Kamal fixes the small things regarding Compose -- zero downtime deploys, assets bridging, automatic TLS certs, etc. I wrote Kamal Handbook to help people start with Kamal (and currently updating for Kamal 2.0).

It's just a default that's being in Rails for a very long time. This let's you start a project quickly. And now the improvements to SQLite is Rails means it's also good to go for a production setup.

Caching and X-Sendfile is handled by https://github.com/basecamp/thruster Rack::Deflater can be then used directly in Rack apps with Puma

They use Go's net/http package which has support for HTTP 2 but I think it lacks support for HTTP 3? Maybe someone can correct me.

Kamal uses plain 'docker run' commands, there is no Swarm or orchestration. It's a simple tool basically replacing Capistrano.
