REST could accomodate for undo quite fine. The server would just have to return a resource representing the action in the response. The client could then delete the action with another request, which would amount to an undo. This is analogo

I haven't used it but there is NO WAY that it is worse than WebSphere. In any case, my firm belief is that the whole concept of app servers is flawed. Libs are so much better than frameworks, and app servers are just horribly clunky fr

I just wsnt to add that not even formal methods absolutely guarantee absence of errors. Firstly, there might be errors in the proof itself. Secondly, you always make assumptions about the CPU, memory and other hardware components. These mig

Just use tables. I know that everyone recommends against it, but IMO they are the only solution which works as expected. Everyone says they have a fancy workaround, but none of them works well enough. And besides, whats wrong with tables? S

I can't believe I'm reading this here. What if some other assault happened, you got kicked in the guts by your boss while everyone around you just stood there and didn't do anything about it? I know I'd be quite upset. T

Actual soldiers are acknowledging their participation by wearing uniforms. Al-Quaeda members are not doing this, so they more or less force the US to use equally shoddy tactics. I think that this is very dangerous, the terrorists are winn

Snapshotting and log replay should be fairly straightforward, if you save all sql statements in their entirety. Snapshots would stop the world, which might pose a problem, but I presume this is no different to other event sourcing solutions

I do get the point, in fact I'm building such an app right now, but my statement is still true and I find that quite amusing.

SQL databases also do this. They have events called 'SQL statements' which are written to a 'journal' and applied to the domain which resides in the 'tables' of the database :)

The OP said that unit testing sucks because it can be automated. If your tests are so simple that they can be automated I would argue that they are useless, because you're not really testing functionality, but more boilerplate. You can

You're probably testing too much. Take Kent Becks advice and only write a test when you can bet a dollar that it would fail. Don't write tests for things which you never fail at. BTW, the term "unit test" can mean many t

Eh, I just got bitten by a Python framework which could only do about 400 rps of "Hello World" on my laptop. Pure python could be pushed to 14000 with gevent and 4 processes, while a pure Java servlet easily got 100krps, async jav

One could argue the same for buildings: "Every newly designed building is simply composed of known elements: columns, pillars, windows, tiles etc". The composition _is_ the innovation.
