Don't forget about catering for the symbol formerly known as Prince :) No but seriously, names are horrendously complex, just as adresses are. But you might be better of ignoring some detail than trying to cater for every possible case

Too be fair, Hibernate was a whole lot leaner when Gaving was leading the project. And Hibernate was one of the first ORMs, so he was at least pioneering a field, even if the idea admittedly turned out to be less great than initially though

Html used to have style embedded into it (blink, table, align, font etc). The idea of separating the style into a css file was born in a time when server side scripts were generating the html (hence the programmers), and the frontenders did

Eh, what about not relying on timestamps at all in distributed systems? Use lamport or vector clocks if you want a notion of time in a distributed system. This article makes me more reluctant to consider quasardb.

Startups are a bitch, especially if it isn't your own. You are essentially sacrificing your quality of life for someone elses dream. I was in a similar situation to yours, minus the suicidal part, but still really bad not going out for

Best thing I ever did to cope is that I started to deal with people instead of trying to avoid them. Take the discussion the first time it comes up. Speak your mind as soon as you are given a chance. Keep repeating yourself in meetings and

I actually think that this was a great solution. They wanted receipts and now they are getting them in their purest form. And the POS system won't even notice the difference. Smart, simple. What's really hacky about it?

I always interpreted the SRP in terms of how well one can describe the responsibility of the class. If one has to write "This class does x and y and sometimes z if w", it's got several responsibilities. If one can write "

WoT and CA systems are both problematic since they can be altered on the fly and thus 'hijacked'. I wonder if we wouldn't be better of with something similar to what SSH does. Accept trust the first time and verify that the s
