The whole GSI thing is allowing me to mess with ASOP roms on phones that would never have a customized Lineage OS release. Shoutout to Phhusson https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases

Do they also have iPhones? It could be as simple as the Find My network identifying that you'd been near each other (still creepy).

I think Element ( https://element.io/ ) is worth looking at for anyone who wants something decentralized. Unfortunately I have exactly 1 contact who uses it, but that was true of Signal as well 8 years ago

Regardless, thank you for all of your work and contributions. Keeping those old PPC devices alive did more for the environment than I think you'll ever be able to quantify. Not to mention, I had a lot of fun with old PowerBooks and iMa

Jeff, First off, thank you for doing this kind of 'r&d', it is really exciting to see what the Pi is capable of after less than a decade. Would you be interested in someone testing a SAS PCI card? I'm going to pick up one

That's awesome. I was an electronic fiddler as well as a kid, CS student, and it landed me a gig building IOT devices back in 2016. Unfortunately that company crashed, and I ended up in "cloud" systems stuff. If you ever need

How'd you like Pop!_OS? It recently came up on my radar and seems really polished; a great alternative to the polish of a commercial desktop os

I felt the same way so for my Linux laptop I moved over to Plasma. It's a real desktop with sane defaults, and I can recommend it. Obviously not quite the same level of polish as the Mac, but try it, you may be pleasantly surprised. Gn

I have a similar problem and it sounds like some here do as well. What can we do about Google's email monopoly?

Why don't we just support the Steam version of Debian and be done with it? Anyone running custom things should be ready to make their custom fixes... Oh well, this guys sounds full of hubris. Just because something isn't immediate

This doesn't even touch on the fact that Signal depends on Play Services. It has a websocket option, but the setting is actually not in the GUI
