Is the next administration really likely to do, on purpose, anything that would affect earnings for large corps? It would absolutely blow my mind. I think RFK will do zilch unless it aligns with more profits for the right folks.

I feel like this calls for harmonizing tax rules within europe and plugging loopholes more than let’s not even dare ask billionaires to pay their fair share.

Some pretty stereotypical technophile thought in there I think. Rockets are cool but are they progress? Depends on your (subjective, personal) beliefs and value system. IMO they’re part of a self-fulfilling quasi-religion that predicts and

It's very easy to get informed on these topics, yet people keep posting these high level extremely simplistic takes. You can't summarize the world with "People want the most convenience in their lives" and use that to ex

Also, maybe “ludicrous” acceleration made it easy to launch the car into that pond by mistake. It’s a common selling point for EVs now but I think Tesla started the trend.

We need to stop the deaths now, not in 15 years if and when the tech becomes good enough and adopted etc. Every other country has seen a reduction in the number of deaths over time, without self driving cars.

Meanwhile in reality: - More traffic due to induced demand as sitting in traffic becomes comfortable - Self-driving subscription in addition to all other car costs - More car-centric infrastructure needed as we realize that self-driving car

Defining progress isn't that simple. Self-driving cars isn't progress. Larger and heavier cars isn't progress. Cars with insane eye-searing LED headlights isn't progress.

Not sure about the specifics here but to jump on your point about human drivers not being safe... 10000% we need safer designs for streets and roads, better education, automated enforcement of speed limits, dis-incentives for larger/he
