Yep, that's the key insight we've built this around. Our contributors tend to focus on ideation and developmental feedback where the core of an idea or story can be refined or, in some cases, re-imagined entirely. We think Grammar

Thanks! And we're not the cheapest option, but we have tried to make the pricing competitive for the level of quality we strive for. A top editor on Upwork costs around $150/hour and typically can edit about 1,000 words per hour.

I think the spirit of this advice translates well to publishing style, too. I get intimidated when I see big blocks of text. But take that same, intimidating block and thoughtfully break it into short, punchier paragraphs and I'm in. S

Right? Daniel Vassallo's AWS book was another "whoa!" moment. Engineers: a) are generally paid well and b) love learning. Seems like a wonderful market to sell educational content into

I think what was most interesting to me as I wrote this was that everybody started at nothing. There was no guarantee of success for any of them -- it was the same empty page that all of us have to face. And while it may not be likely that

Opportunity cost. It's relatively easy to measure how much an investment of time or money will "cost" in absolute terms. But it's pretty unnatural to try and define the opportunities you're not going to pursue and f

I send out a short, sweet email with a few big ideas and little to no links to click. It's written for curious, action-oriented people. Why it's awesome: The ideas are mind-stretching or practical. I also write in an entertaining

I think it's a bad blanket rule. Founder conflict is a major risk for an early-stage startup failing, so having the wrong co-founder is more dangerous than going at something solo.

I think a lot of people wince at the word “generalist” because, at its worst, it’s synonymous with “somebody with no actual skillset or specialty whatsoever.” But I've written extensively about the generalist vs. specialist distinction

It seems like you're doing many things right. One over-looked trick: "warm up" the inbox you send from. I.e. start sending mail at ever-increasing volumes until you've reached the max capacity you need to send at. If you

While I don't know what baseline you're comparing it to, 12% does not seem like a high open rate. In my experience, cold sales emails should hover around 20-30%, so opted-in lists should at least perform on par with that. Exceptio

A great night's sleep really is the best drug in the world. I've found that even small quantities of alcohol can interrupt my sleep to the point that I'm aware of it the next day. I've started to cut the wine with dinner

This is something I think about a lot, in particular because I have a wide range of interests. I often second-guess myself and am never sure if what I'm doing is my "real" passion given that I'm intrinsically interested

As somebody with broad interests, I've long been fascinated by what it means to be a "generalist" and understanding when a wide, varied skillset is an advantage over a hyper-narrow one. I've been reading about this for y
