I'd like to see a thorough comparison of typescript, haxe, scala.js, and also gopherjs. Which (statically typed) language/compiler provides the best experience for developers who want to develop "native" programs (I incl

Emacs assimilates everything to Borg mode as does org-mode. This just isn't the vim way of doing things. What are you trying to achieve and what is missing. There are a few org-mode like plugins, personal wikis, task managment tools ar

It sure is awesome, it just isn't as usable as, e.g., opera on a phone. I really wish they'd invest more time in basic usability issues like scrolling, font size etc.

Scala has a bigger runtime, which is supported by ScalaJS. ScalaJS also has implementations for some Java classes. There are also some Scala libraries with explicit support for ScalaJS around. Kotlin relies more heavily on the underlying ru

AFAIK javascript support is put on hold until 1.0 is reached. Kotlin/JS doesn't provide much help to make Kotlin/Java code run without modifications. So, it isn't there yet. ScalaJS on the other hand is fully functional.

I personally don't get why people talk that much about procrastination just to avoid the question: Am I using my time on things I'm actually interested in or do I just go on because I get paid too much to jump ship.

I was hoping for something like "static code analysis" and "make code more robust", not for "magic" and "even more magic".

Who measures softness/fuzziness of a field? Who makes sure that measurement isn't biased? Just because you use maths doesn't imply your conclusions and theories are as precise and clean cut as 2+2.

Speaking of simple -- the %M flag in 'statusline' gives you the + for modified files. No need to use an expression block. I like to use the status line to keep track of buffer-local options that differ from the default setting. Th

How should you know? Actually an interesting problem: A1. You say you don't experience emotions. A2. What you call emotions is what you see others do when they say they are acting emotionally. You don't think you are this way. A3.

I used to use fountain pens for a long time but returned to Bic Cristal ballpoints a few years ago. They just work and they are available everywhere.

Since Bic Cristal pens are my writing tool of choice, I have to say I find it strange you only mention Bic. Maybe a Bic pen isn't the right tool for how you write, but you can definitely use it without getting cramps.

Yes. It's easy to install and runs on Android. It's quite fast in detecting differences and then syncing 2 nodes. It's meant to permanently run in the background though. It cannot be not easyly automated to, eg, sync 2 nodes

dart2js is designed to produce output that runs as fast as possible and is as small as possible. Speaking of small: What's the size of the dart_runtime/dart and dart/core that seemingly always gets imported?

In German, some of their novels were published by a major publisher, Suhrkamp. The movie Stalker is well known, which is based on one of their novels. I'd say they probably were the most prominent USSR SF writers of their time.

IMHO the state of static type checking/code analysis in ruby is still deplorable and this (well known, rather trivial) approach won't ameliorate the situation. Even javascript has more to offer in this respect. Who would have susp

I have to disagree. IMHO most papers weren't written to be read with care. So you shouldn't waste your time on them. Skimming through is ok when you have to filter out the few papers that actually make a difference.

I personally would recommend against making notes on the print out. I'd rather go with keeping your notes separately in a way you can easily categorize and search your notes.

I think most people forget the first step: decide whether it's really worth reading the paper. Don't spend too much time on weak papers that won't get you anywhere. Unfortunately, most papers are "weak".
