I think AtomPub suffers from the same problems that SOAP does. It's too complex for what it does, or at least it feels that way. The fact that major player have adopted it doesn't change things, as many major players adopted SOAP. I don't t

The OP could lose some of the sarcasm, but I do believe that "hacker" has become the new "ninja" or maybe even the new "rock star".

I'm honestly confused why the opportunity to pre-order is considered a perk.

Actually it hits the 60 second mark pretty easily. I got our family our very first console this Christmas, the XBox Kinect bundle. Our usage is: turn it on, insert disk, play game. It's really not that hard.

Okay, either you are cooking with some seriously high-end ingredients, live in an insanely high cost of living area, or you're doing something wrong. I highly doubt that a prepackaged frozen meal that costs $10 is going anywhere near as tas

Agreed. In my case I used Ubuntu on a desktop machine (with dual monitors), totally eliminating all of the author's screen related issues. Scrolling, IMO, is both a "not what I'm used to" thing and a polish issue. I just got used to it.

I ran Ubuntu for four months while doing some full-time Ruby work and other than the fact that things are different from what I was used to and I had to experiment to find the applications that suited my work I never had any problems with i

I was going to say something similar. The only developers I know making $110+ per hour in the South-East are very deep into back office stuff like MS-CRM, SAP, etc. I did enough of it to know I don't really like it, but I had a fellow team

Wow. I totally used the hell out of my Palm Pilot when I was in the Army. It was great for keeping track of all the minutiae you have to know about every one of your soldiers (as a squad leader). Totally replaced my zip up nylon filo-fax, a

I don't think MS tablets will take off until they take an approach similar to what they did for Windows Phone 7 and force a very specific set of design limitations on their partners.

The poster is not questioning the need for open standards, they are questioning the user's need to have that particular standard implemented in hotmail. Which is not necessarily a bad thing to do IMO.

So it's more like WikipediaMaze then... http://www.wikipediamaze.com/ But I doubt that it matters that it's similar game play. How many roll the dice & go around the board games are there?

Honestly, I was looking at these thinking how under-paid they are. I contract for a company in a much lower cost of living area and I'm making more than the average Googler. I honestly don't understand why anyone would work for someone else

I presume you mean an equivalent to Firebug for IE. There's Fiddler and Visual Studio, or you can try Firebug Lite. As far as multiple versions, the only solution I've found is multiple VMs which sucks, but that's what happens when the brow

I'm not sure what you're complaining about. You can still use SL, it's not going away, and it will continue to get new releases. If it meets your need, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't continue to use it. It won't work on every platf

Canvas makes some of the shiny things easier to implement. And shiny animations (that don't impede usability) make the customers want more.

I agree, but in my mind it doesn't need to be perfect. Just good enough to get the bones to dance a little, and frankly, there isn't a lot you can do in SL that you can't do in javascript / HTML.

One word: Enterprise. I currently contract for a company with 50,000 + employees and some pretty specialized software that way too many people need to access. Getting that to change is like turning a convoy of sea liners with no radio commu

I see where you're coming from, but in regards to MS and developers I really can't disagree with you more. MS, more than most, bends over backwards to reach out to developers. You can still target COM and OLE, you can still write VB4. I ha

My understanding is that any app can register itself for any of the hubs, so I don't see any technical reason why a twitter app can't go in the people hub. No clue whose over-sight it is that the twitter app isn't already there.

Twilio really does rock. Super easy to use and get started and there are other providers that provide Twilio API compatibility in case you ever need it.

It's improved with IOS4 as you can now deploy wirelessly by having the users visit a web site. With 3 the only way to deploy was using the configuration utility or have the users install with iTunes. What we keep begging them for is the abi

My limited number of contacts at MS tell me that an Enterprise deployment solution is coming, but they couldn't get it done in time for the initial release. I hope it's better than Apple's solution.
