I've done well for myself but I was definitely not a great student. My theory (which may be wrong) is that it has to do with the fact that some kids learn differently from others, and don't necessarily do well following the traditional publ

"All future in one place" is definitely incorrect. "Your future in one place" or "Your future, all in one place" might make more sense.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who keeps all that stuff. A few months ago I went back through some old chat logs to find the first time that I chatted with my best friend, and it was a lot of fun to relive that part of my life.

The way I've learned to deal with this is that I listen enthusiastically, and then I ask the person with the idea to come back with sketches or something more concrete. That has, so far, eliminated 100% of the ideas outright. When someone r

Thiel also wants to build a magical libertarian island off the coast of San Francisco with no laws. Money tends to turn some people coo-coo-bananas, apparently. http://theweek.com/article/index/218393/libertarian-island-a...

I'm not a fan of people pulling the "age" card. There are plenty of old men that have done tons of damage throughout history. It's fine to be mistrustful of small companies (I had that trouble with Mint initially) but there's no need to jab

Congratulations! I've been independent for about a month now, and the most important lesson I've learned so far is that NOTHING feels good except shipping. I'm in a similar boat. I quit my day job and I'm living off of the (moderately) pass

This is not the first time that AppSumo has run an ad with a person's likeness. When a public figure has a fan page, I think it's safe to say that it's fair game (per Facebook's TOS) for Facebook advertisers to target fans of that person. I

I'm quite amused by the deck's opening story about the horrors of 10-year-old kids on Facebook seeing gay men dancing with towels wrapped around them in a bar. The problem of needing to partition one's social groups is very real, but the mo
