I agree. Wave is complex enough that people are going to want to use their OS's native interface with it, for both usability and speed reasons.

I could see that web site being a lot more interesting and compelling if it gave you some sort of visual discovery for each new day. If you break the chain, you have to start back at the first one.

I really wish people would stop naming their software 'Alice.' This is at least the third one I've seen. On the other hand, it sounds effective at getting people interested in programming.

If you let me have this one, I'll happily make some sort of egocentric wiki site out of it. steve.johnson.public @ that gmail site

EXTREMELY minimal, but I really like the openness and availability. At the very least, it's a good way to test your own gadgets. I'll certainly be playing with this more during the next few weeks.

I totally agree with you. I was going after the author's pooh-pooh attitude toward Apple's design philosophy, not claiming to know of some mythical objective standard of user friendliness.

Pretty standard "Apple fanbois are pathetic" trolling. Here's all you need: "Apple's products and policies have always been biased toward childish, whiny, and self-centered behavior, and now the company’s stakeholders are mirroring that." "

This article jumps to some pretty ridiculous conclusions. The support note just says that since Apple never promised to support the Pre (for very good reasons I might add), it might break, and in that scenario, it will be up to Palm to fix

I want to like D, but the documentation just isn't there. Good tutorials for it are hard to find, and the OS X installation instructions on the web site are just plain wrong. If they could just get together some decent documentation, I woul

bowbefore.us sounds really appealing to me, but I'll need to come up with a concept before I offer to take it off your hands.

I don't like the way he trotted out the old "C++ will always beat Java/C# in speed" line. It ain't necessarily so. Besides that, this article is full of great advice.

The whole point of the Kindle, at least as I perceive it, is to sell more books on the Amazon store. Why wouldn't they let a company like Apple provide yet another interface for their store? If anything, an "iPhone of ebook readers" would i

Mercurial+BitBucket and Git+Github are almost interchangeable. If a team member is on Windows, go with Mercurial+BitBucket, as it has much better cross-platform support. Otherwise, use Git+Github because it has a great community, good docum

I am increasingly skeptical of these "new models of software development." It sounds suspiciously like the business school jargon another article mentioned earlier today. Some key excerpts: "This is the book you must absolutely read...It id

While I am a huge Git fan, I completely understand their decision to go with Mercurial. It has better documentation, better cross-platform support, and a similar feature set. Git is improving in all these areas, and I use Git for my persona

Sure, the generalized statement is a bit iffy, but in this case, the number of users, ease of implementation, and utility of the feature make the lack of constants inexcusable. Bon's argument sounds pretty silly.

For some reason I can't get "Barney Stinson! Barney Stinson!" out of my head. I feel like if I tried to pull some of that stuff with a potential employer, I would be dismissed as a pretentious blowhard. http://barneysvideoresume.com/

Sorry for the mistake. When you do a normal "ln -s" on the console, it looks exactly the same as an alias in the Finder with the little arrow overlay, which is why I was confused.
