As a counterpoint, have you seen Stack Overflows proposed new brandings and redesigns? Pretty wild colour choices.

What is the "elsewhere" you have in mind? I think it really is as simple as the AIs give better answers faster in most cases.

Good that this didn't become a trend. Oceans warming is one of the huge threats of climate change, we really don't need to help it.

> AGI will arrive. This does not follow. Your argument, set in the 1950s, would be that cars keep getting faster, therefore they will reach light speed.

I generally use Bun for this purpose. I don't really know how Bun does what it does, but it seems to manage to do Node-ish things like NPM and running Typescript without getting caught up in all the myriad variations of TS and ESM conf

I tried playing Mussolini or Bread with ChatGPT, but it didn't go very well. It seemed to have trouble grasping the rules, and kept getting overly specific when we were miles from the right concept.

So I have picked up one project where I'm rewriting a codebase vibe-coded by the non-technical founders. It'll be interesting to see if that becomes a trend. Just what are people supposed to do with vibe coded codebases...

I can sympathise with the urge to write code that produces a valid answer if at all possible. Usually I can overcome that urge. It's curious that these designers could not.

To be somewhat fair, most of what this is poking fun at is the parsing of strings that do not remotely resemble actual dates. It's very edge case behaviour. Yes, it'd be nice if the edge cases did something more predictable, like

They didn't explain the etymology. En panne means broken, not functioning. Dépanner means to remove something from that state, to fix it. A dépanneur is therefore a person or thing that fixes stuff, gets you out of trouble.

I do love the approachability they create. Personally as a coder, I don't find the AI experience at all fun, but I get that others do. Have you tried using AI to further changes to any of these projects down the line?
