Cycling on 45mph+ roads (really stroads, or in-town highways) with no separated bike lanes or sidewalk is pretty dangerous. This kind of road is kind of the normal in most American suburban towns or even bigger cities outside the actual dow

Building a society where you need to pay for a car, license, fuel, and insurance to just to function increases harm to the poor.

Yes, the tendency of successful businesses in a market to acquire upstarts has an effect as well. The positive outcome for many startups that take investment money is to be acquired in such a move to pay back those investors. The negative o

I don't partake in cannabis, or much alcohol (ie one social drink once a week). The reasons I haven't tried entrepreneurship are much more about financial risks. Rent is expensive. Homeownership is barely attainable anywhere near

You can make pretty significant cuts to R&D and see short term revenue and productivity stay pretty level. In fact it should improve your metrics since you are spending less and selling just as many of your existing products as you were

Those are probably different groups of people. I'll definitely agree that the Mac would see more security issues if it had the install base of Windows or iOS.

I think it's less a preference question and more whether Apple thinks saving PWAs with a third party browser and then launching them with Safari is compliant with the DMA.

I have never had trouble recycling aluminum cans when I live in a place with curbside recycling or in public with clearly marked recycling containers. Nobody even had to pay me to do it. I know littering will happen and deposits can help wi

There are economic and political incentives to build rockets and space infrastructure. Less so for submarines exploring the depths of the ocean, even if the latter is equally or more interesting from a scientific exploration perspective.

Are single serving aluminum cans, if recycled, really worse than the alternatives? Plastic bottles or glass both have their own emissions and recycling issues.

Generally car sales are counted at delivery, or when the manufacturer gets paid for the car. A Tesla order is a $250 deposit. They don't get paid for the car until it gets delivered, and the order can be cancelled at any point before t

Tesla generally ships cars on a JIT basis and avoids large inventory. When a ship arrives with imported cars, the majority are likely already spoken for with pending orders and will be delivered within a month.

I believe Apple said it was more about using that space for other uses, not making the device thinner. Almost every iPhone since then has gotten thicker with a larger battery.

The two party system is not a policy, it’s a symptom of First Past the Post elections. If you want the system to change we need to restructure how elections work, not somehow try to abolish the idea of people working together politically.
