I like this approach, maybe they should try it for science and maths too. Just post a list of all the major unsolved scientific questions, and then everyone will know not to bother with them, because they're unsolvable...

I used darcs for a while a few years back, it was ok. But definitely less polished than git. Also the only vcs I've ever used where the repo managed to corrupt itself to the point I lost committed but unpushed changes

I think this reasoning is missing something. The maths assumes that the security of your system is entirely defined by the complexity of your key. Obscurity gives you the option of hiding the /lock/, which is different.
