It's human readable as far generated code goes. It's not always practical to read (specially with classes), but you can if you have to. It's one of the philosophies behind CoffeeScript. As you can see its translation of OOP is verbose too,

Lua is fast as scripting languages go, but saying it's in the same performance ballpark as native code is a stretch [1]. Game developers that use Lua commonly rely on C/C++ for low level routines. There's a space for innovation there. ooc [

Why wouldn't this be used for production? It compiles to human readable Lua.

This looks very promising. Congrats on the launch. I am enjoying this wave of new programming languages that compile down to existing ones in a human readable way. They are pleasant to write and read and yet performant and don't require a s

That's quite a bit of an exaggeration in this case. Look at the simple syntax for OOP or default argument values. That's a lot of cruft removed compared to Lua. The less you need to read the better, as long as it's readable.

This is not just borrowing a few ideas, it's a blatant ripoff. And it was released while Vlambeer was developing an iOS version to start monetizing their success. You can be competitive and morally correct, they're not exclusive.

Certainly, Gamenauts gets a design that has already proved popular with audiences, but is that really enough incentive to destroy your reputation? I think he's overestimating how much people in general care about clones. Sure, in indie ga

I used to think that this content (the new activity feed) being hard to get was an intentional, thoughtful design. It felt nice in contrast with using Facebook, which gives me an unpleasant feeling of everybody observing every single action

Looks like we were talking about two different things. wccrawford was talking about the preview, while we were referring to the "sample"... <sigh>.

Great, maybe then you can also enlighten me on what's so deeply wrong with the title and dedication page? It can't be about it being the only content of the sample, the main content in there is the introduction to the book.

I suppose your own interpretation of it had the same content - maybe you're familiar enough with wccrawford and can guess what he's thinking - but objectively they don't. HORRIBLE and UGH were dropped without an actual explanation, and

Your comment on the sample is constructive and I agree with it ( "the Kindle sample could use some actual meat" ), but I don't find " The free preview on Amazon is HORRIBLE. The title page and the dedication page? UGH. " to be conveying wha

Good point. This is the reason I never listened to my math teacher, his material was too basic and too abstract for me to get motivated, I couldn't see myself using that knowledge in the short term. I went to art school, and only later I re
