https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards#/m... As a layman these sorts of reductions always seemed pretty strict to me. It seemed like a backdoor way of banning ICE's. We know that we need to

Termux[0], the best Android terminal emulator (in my humble opinion), recently had mosh added to its' package repository. I currently use it and it's very nice. It makes me long for a better handheld though (my 4" Moto G scre

I think the issue with 'white privilege' as a term is that people forget that the vast majority of people are not 'alright Jack'. It feels like an attack, like saying 'you have too much, give me some'. Warren B

To be honest for me it's all a bit odd. It's like, I just don't fit into socializing in $CURRENT_YEAR with ordinary people. I feel a bit like an old fuddy. WhatsApp has some weird thing whereby I need a smartphone and a telep

I suspected that, but what's with the monstrous 8 core thing then? Couldn't you equally overclock a 4 core CPU and save hundreds of dollars? Basically, is the whole article just nonsense? :)

I'm sure. Are Xeon systems just super expensive, though? Is 8 cores the best you can do for 4K?

I actually wish e-mail were used more. I want my relatives, my spouse, my friends to use e-mail. I'm not quite sure how to convince them, though. It generally feels like they'd rather use Facebook or WhatsApp or whatever's in

4000USD is a lot of money. That seems like an odd setup. Not having ever wanted to buy a machine for that amount of cash, I'd expect to do better with multi-socket systems. Anyone care to chime in? I struggled to spend over 1K GBP with

I'm a bit confused as to how this works in an employment scenario where the contractual terms aren't fixed. How is salary negotiated? What happens over time - do you just become discrete employees? What about internal promotion -

I hope so. I try to live in that way, and I try to encourage those around me to live in that way (refusing imbalanced employment conditions). I think if enough people did, we could start to help each other, rather than relying on capital an

I think you're just describing how our economy works. People love cheap clothing stores, cheap items off Amazon, quick delivery, etc. That's the impact on them. How it happens is immaterial. You can do it via magic 3d-printing dev

This is an attitude I see from many of my friends and I fundamentally disagree because I think so many of those 'other places' are stifling and non-inclusive. A restaurant is a place where speaking more loudly than a certain amoun

Thank you for this comment. I think it's really hard to pin down. I don't agree that it's about people 'drifting apart', or 'finding different interests'. In some sense those are being taken as tautologies

There's a very steep reward curve, though. It's not like, a 10% incentive. It's hundreds of percentage points. Very rough numbers here: Generic person might be able to earn $50K working 40 hour weeks in their most optimal car

Sure, I'm not making a value judgement, just stating how it is. In my opinion, it makes a lot of sense to do that anyway, at least viewed from outer space. Stepping away from 'the economy', London's public transport syst

Intuitively this seems like an obvious result of the network effect. (edit: I'm not intending to belittle anyone here and I apologise if it may seem that way). Axiomatically, socially the sum of two humans is greater than the two human
