technically it does not "work" but after some amount of hours of googling specific issues that pop up you can get it going. it's painful though.

This was also my experience with the XPS15. Took a lot of struggle just for really basic hardware to start working properly on the ubuntu side, also extremely painful to install ubuntu itself and to have it recognize the XPS15's touchp

Wrote a piece of code and thought about how broken it will be in the year 10k and found this pretty hilarious article.

Agreed. It's very difficult and definitely a learned skill to even be able to tell why or how your body/mind feels different day to day. You always feel the big things "I feel great!" "I feel like shit." but re

One of the few times I feel underrepresented in my life is that moment when I am shoving my knees into the seat in front of me as I slowly wedge my hips into my assigned seat. I wonder if you could start an airliner targeted at tall people

I didn't realize that. I say "only" because my father is 6'10'' and many of my siblings are taller than me. My perspective is skewed.

Not sure what you're asking, did you misread my original comment? This magical seat does not exist, even on new planes.

Also how can this possibly be true for every human being? I'm only 6'5'' and for any plane I've been on this has not been true. Including "newer" planes eg. the 787 Dreamliner.

Yeah, I actually removed myself from their recruitment pipeline a ways back because I saw the salary calculator. It does not and will not ever make sense to pay talent based on anything other than productivity. Where I choose to live should

Is it just me or is their published compensation algorithm not competitive at all? I put in my information and it had me at a ~40k pay cut which seems silly.

The thing that is wrong is compensation. It is much more lucrative to not be loyal. If you are loyal you are compensated with really slim raises, a lot of times single digit percentages.

Similar to you. I can almost never follow the analogy all the way through when I read articles like this. I'm usually lost by the second or third corollary drawn from it. I had thought this was just because I'm stupid until I read

I would also love to know the answer to this. I have an app that is nowhere near what I would consider ideal quality-wise but it's a project that is done, deployed, and open source. Do I even mention it? I wouldn't as it stands.

Well this was the actual only way of contacting one person I knew back from my counterstrike days. CSMario who invented surf maps in counterstrike if you're out there, drop me a line!

I have been instantly closing the Facebook app or Facebook page as soon as I get any type of video ad. I feel like some ML algo will learn that I will not watch video advertisements so eventually it may stop trying. This will make it so I w

I have also heard that if you complain and drill down enough in the support funnel on this issue that eventually the best answer will be "change your phone number". Now that's what you call lock in.

As someone who lives in an apartment that has been monopolized by AT&T and forced to used 60$/month 60mbit internet, I totally agree. I made a mistake by assuming an apartment complex built within the last 3 years would have fiber,

It would be more interesting if Netflix passed it on to subscribers specifically from the ISP that charges them. Then you can as a consumer make a better decision factoring in the increased price of goods with one ISP over another.

Yeah this is quite disheartening to hear. 300$ a month for something that some people can't even tell the difference with. I don't want to spend 150$ for 30ml of snake oil haha.

I have heard that CBD is extremely great as a natural anti inflammatory however the strains that get recommended are so absurdly expensive. On the order of 30ml for 150$ for charlottes web for example. Is it actually worth it? How long does

The first thing that comes to mind is a gaming app where your main browser is the lobby but the windows are actual game instances. There's a site called global poker that does this for poker instances and it's clean / useful

Definitely shouldn't be restricting how you code based on your IDE. If VS can't handle auto, either update for a fix or switch to CLion, it works just fine there.

That's hilarious, and also has to be true. Most successful firms don't exist outside of some mild exposure and a basic splash/landing page to entice potential candidates for recruitment.

Your ending summary was exactly my thought process as I read the first paragraph. I essentially went through the 5 stages of grief as I realized I am no longer a developer.
