Apparently, it isn't obligatory to have an ID card here im Germany. My friend researched this last time his ID was about to expire and decided to go with passport only. The only problem is when you have to verify your address, since th

My little 11" MacBook Air (2015) was such an amazing computer. I'm a bit sad that I sold it, but at that point, I couldn't afford to buy a new computer without selling my old one, and I did get a decent price for it.

I agree. I have one of those fairly efficient mini PCs also running Ubuntu+Docker and it's totally fine for my use-case. I don't need 100% uptime (or even 99%) and nightly backups are more than sufficient. I can spin up an equival

Do you get charged for _receiving_ texts when traveling internationally? Maybe it's different here in Europe, but as far as I know, I only get charged for active things - sending texts, making calls, accepting calls. Passive things - r

Same for me. I was previously a huge fan of the original iPhone SE, but having a modern screen and camera is so nice. Battery life is lacking a bit though. If Apple won't release another iteration of the mini in the next two years, I&#

I tried this at the end of last year, I would guess for about 3-4 weeks. What usually ends up happening is that I sleep like 10-11 hours, then I'm unable to fall asleep the next night because I woke up so late, so I wake up late again

Nope, but if Google and Mozilla are putting this many resources into it, they might know more than we do, and I could imagine this coming with iOS 17 in September.

Making friends is indeed getting more and more difficult the older you get. I feel extremely lucky that I found a great group of friends during high school and somehow we were able to nourish this group and even grow it over time. All the b

I'm sure I'm also not doing it the most efficient way, but every time I watch my one particular friend tie his shoes, I feel like he must have wasted so much of his lifetime to this because it's so inefficient. To be honest,

When I first tried to join the Ivory beta (after they announced new slots on a particular time), the ~1000 slots were gone in 12 SECONDS. It's on the App Store now by the way.

That's fair. Mastodon seemed like a pretty mature platform, so I guess I was just surprised. Considering that 1) the majority of the modern web doesn't work properly without JS, and 2) Mastodon is designed with third-party clients

I didn't realize Mastodon only worked with JavaScript enabled. That sucks. I like Mastodon a lot, but this decision feels hostile. Edit: Seems like they don't plan to change it either: https://github.com/mastodon&

It happens super rarely for me as well, mainly the one time a year I watch a movie at a movie theater because they tend to use German subs for original screenings.
