I like the About page explaining the motivation and how it's different. If you want to get ahead of the curve, filters for 4 and 3 day work weeks would be very cool.

My first question to any programming question is, "can I reasonably solve this with awk?" exactly for its ubiquity. I stick to the POSIX standard for the reasons you note: https://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/

It was mostly accidental: first, I took a 3 month leave of absence to explore a midlife crisis. I came back announcing I'd like to go half-time to do a masters degree which my company was okay with, and when that was over, I just never

I also suspect ruthless prioritization is my main driver of increased productivity.

Probably, yes, but I suspect that it's so hard to find this arrangement (20 hours per week, full benefits, and still very good pay despite it being 50% of total), that I'm just very content with the arrangement.

I'm working 1/2 the time (7 hours Monday & Tuesday, and 6 hours Wednesday), and, yes, it even surprised me that my total productivity is about the same as when I worked 40 hours per week. It's even possible that my total

I didn't mean to give the impression that I was boasting or that I bring this up with him or my management, but just that there's a somewhat objective relative measurement that shows that it's possible to keep up high output

I've been doing a 20-hour 3 day work week (50% of total pay) for a few years now and I love it. I'm outperforming a full-time colleague in total output. Edited to add that the 3 day work week totals 20 hours.

From what I can find, CARTO does not have a free map tile server. In other words, while it technically works, I think it's against their terms of service. They probably don't care if you're small, so I wouldn't worry abo

What is the misconception? That paged you linked to says that map tiles are free for use with a few reasonable restrictions: Clearly display license attribution, normally in the bottom-right corner of the map. Do not actively or p

I'm curious why you're using a commercial tile provider -- CARTO -- instead of OpenStreetMaps?

I was surprised at the poor quality of serviceability given its enterprise deployment with k8s. No thread dumps without killing the process (or writing a SIGUSR1 handler). No heapdump reader so you have to use the memory sampler and hope yo

I'm earning half my previous salary, and I'm single, so it was definitely an adjustment. I had heard about the 30 hour per week cutoff for benefits, but I was surprised that my company was able to provide full benefits at 20 hours

I'm a senior software engineer, but, yes, there are lots of complexities. 3 day work weeks might only work for top performers, but a lot of them never ask.

I've had a 3 day work week for years (at 20 hours per week) and I love it. I feel like I'm more productive than before, too. Not just productivity per hour, but total productivity. I was surprised by this result since I'm wor

That is an absolutely amazing video. From a brief, intuitive, and well-diagrammed explanation of non-trivial concepts of queuing theory, to practical examples, to connecting it all to real-world use cases and value, and all within a surpris

No news yet; however, one of the other HN comments suggested creating a new Firefox profile using about:profiles and that seems to have worked (whereas clearing cache/cookies didn't work), although I'm still trying to find th

Interesting, you might be on to something! I just tried this and it seems to help. How does this make any sense though as I cleared cache/cookies and have factory settings in my other profile?

Personally, I have no problem with CloudFlare's bot protection. My problem is with CloudFlare's lack of diagnostics and community involvement to resolve/explain false positives. I have no idea what obscure default setting to

I have noticed my CPU spike during these checks; however, I have factory settings for Firefox and haven't disabled scripts/WASM/etc. Is there some setting that Firefox might default to that could cause this?

If there is some Firefox privacy feature that CloudFlare considers overbearing, I'd consider turning it off, but I don't even know what the problem is. CloudFlare provides zero diagnostics and didn't engage in the community p

Is it because you have a different UserAgent? Otherwise, how would CloudFlare even know your browser is different if you're Chromium based?
