I've been hoping for an Imgur replacement for simple, hosted image sharing. I'm happy to pay $1/mo, but when I tried to upload https://camo.githubusercontent.com/9ec8d13de2878c899fda0bd43... I got this, which

Linode is great. Wonderful options, reliable, excellent tools. Been using them for almost a decade. It's hard to beat Netlify and Vercel for static content. They make it easy and you'll be up and running in seconds. I know you sai

ShellJS was a delight to use when we had to build a cross platform Electron-based (sorry) desktop application for Mac and Windows. It replaced batch and shell scripts, async operations were easy thanks to NodeJS, and the scripts were mainta

I wrote a comment on DisplayLink below: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25675013 It works, and it's the only option, but you won't like it.

I bought the StarTech dual 4K DisplayLink adapater after watching one of those videos. I use it to power a second 4K monitor with my M1 MacBook Air running lid-closed. I have a 1080p gaming monitor as my primary connected to a Elgato dock v

I made a shortener using nginx and a config file: https://statico.link It uses a tab-delimited nginx map file as a config. To make changes, I wrote a tiny shell wrapper which opens the config in Vim, checks it in, and reloads ng

More info: This isn't what the ride is normally like. This was an express train in April, 2019, probably 6pm or 7pm, going south from San Francisco. Because it's an express the train gets up to some high speeds, and this lateral w

Thanks for this. I remember being at MacWorld and watching a movie play while holding down menu items. On Classic Mac, which I was used to, this would block the entire OS (almost). BeOS seemed space-age.

One of my favorite anecdotes about BeOS was that it had a CPU usage meter[1], and on the CPU meter there were on/off switches for each core. If you had two cores and turned one off, your computer would run at half speed. If you turned

I've tried MiniCSS[1] (which styles your default HTML without adding too many classes and has themes) and MUI[2] (Material UI styles). Both are decent, but I keep falling back to Bootstrap v4 because Bootstrap just gets a lot of sizing
