I suggest putting Cloudflare in front of it. I have virtually no AWS costs with S3 that way. If you don't mind that Cloudflare + S3 means it's not fully end to end encrypted.

I have been running Postgres in Docker on my M1 MBP for a while now. No issues so far.

I guess we got lucky then? It doesn't seem to make a big difference though. After a couple of minutes most users considered the login attempt failed in our cases.

You have more management work for your team. If something's wrong with it, it's mostly your problem. I initially thought it was a "problem solved" thing by paying the money. Ended up causing us regular work (not much, bu

We ended up purchasing a dedicated IP from Mailgun. This solves the spam/latency problem mostly, but brings about new problems.

We have tried this for a while and the following reasons made us kill it: 1. Email delivery latency: depending on the service you use, the time it takes to deliver emails to the user can vary. Worst case I encountered was up to 20 minutes d

Ok, I accept that you are not willing to look beyond the current state of legal affairs, regardless of whether Google/YouTube is so large it becomes an example of a de facto public space. And how to treat these kinds of platforms with

Yeah, for sure. Call it freedom of information, add a little bit of common sense to it, and your argument renders itself completely invalid. Google demonstrates that it doesn't follow a revenue driven agenda with these actions. It invo

What about it? The last time I looked up "freedom of speech" censorship was on the list of exact opposites.

Of course we cannot simply trust that the good side will win. The people that want to retain the democratic system have to defend it. And I count myself among these people. It's hard for me to watch what is happening, too. All I'm

Part of the democratic process is to defend itself against such attacks. If the defence is suppressing speech, then that might signal that democracy is not strong enough to deal with these issues. An easy win for the attacker. It's a p

How is it [the president making baseless claims] dangerous for democracy? What if the opposite is true? What if censoring thoughts is the real danger for democracy? I am not saying I have proof for any of this. But I guess, that's true

Your logical fallacy is to believe that you will retain your everyday life freedoms that way. The lines between digital and real life are already blurring. You will lose freedom in both this way. I hope for you that we utopians won't h

Looks more like a hedge to me, but I think you are right. It's a signal. Most people will confuse this with noise, ignore it, and move on. Even if it's not a big deal considering the overall Berkshire investment pool, this is a co

As a fun exercise, if you want to, type "media keys" in Google and look at the autosuggestions coming up :) Must be an edge case also. I was talking about MutationObserver. I didn't have the urge to self-injure even more, so

I like to use my Bluetooth headset (or to be more specific, the touch bar on my Mac indirectly) to control YouTube video playback. It's 2020 and Firefox still does not support it. It's really a basic feature that any other app on

I have tried switching from Chrome to FF multiple times in the past 18 months. It just doesn't work. Neither for development nor for general use. It's sadly just not competitive anymore.

It was important enough around 2010 to have a real impact (30+%). Why wouldn't people switch to FF anymore? I'd say because they prioritize their product development in the wrong way. It's really sad. Competition would be hel

Mozilla is no longer in a position to make such a change. Unfortunately, it's very unlikely that management will care in most cases and the errors resulting from this will be blamed on FF and not on the site in question.
