In my own measurements (made a framework to test number of tokens used / amount of reprompting to accomplish a battery of tests) i found that using an ast type tool makes the results worse. I suspect it just fills the context with dist

Not being in profit seeking mode is one thing. Being so far away from profit seeking mode that you need a government bailout is an entirely different thing.

well, one reason people might stay is they are on a visa and the government has a nice corporate friendly visa system in this country.

back in the bad old days id trawl craigslist and find cash poor startups. they were shitty gigs but at least enough to bootstrap a career

Surely there are contract gigs elsewhere in the world that will pay better and not ask complicated legal questions

Humans are complicated. They see the unfairness of the windsurf situation, and then they see the unfairness of their own situation.

it is an interesting feeling to be someone who was considered to be absurdly highly paid just a few years ago and looking at the landscape now where people in similar positions are making 3x,4x, more, much much more now. Hard to tell if jum

nah you can buy a decent place for around 1 mil in sf. these employees are probably getting paid pretty well to start with so i bet they can afford to get a nice place at a higher price point.

I have never heard the term “compression culture” before, but speaking as a human experiencing the world in 2025 the tendency to compress things is certainly understandable. There is a contradiction or a tension betweem me as a worker and m

I’ve had some success with running them through another LLM to have it clean up the transcription errors based on the context. But this obviously does nothing for speaker identitication.

To be honest I suspect the things you are working on are either too small or too narrowly scoped to start running into the kinds of problems people are running into with llms. Give it more time and you’ll start to run into limitations.

i really wish people who make edge inference libraries like this would quit rebranding them every year and just build the damn things to be fast and small and consistently updated.

San Francisco’s problems arent much different than the problems of the rest of America (and this can probably be extended to the entire “West”). Money and people with it run the show and are increasing their wealth unsustainably. Any other

Centrists dont have a very good track record of actually accomplishing much more than lifting the foot off the accelerator a little bit. I think our problems are intractable right now under the current way we have our economy setup. But lef

Where do you even start with a comment like this? It wildly mischaracterizes what “the left” wants and constructs a strawman to argue with.

Adding to this, from what I’ve read electron beam is too slow for the required throughput. The ASML EUV machine can etch something like 170 wafers per hour. Using an electron beam would be far too slow for 2-3 wafers per minute.

You guys might want to explain what this is a little better. My first question was “what do they mean by ‘hardware accelerators’?” It wasnt until I saw the matmul example that I realized this is (probably, its still unclear) for GPUs.

One calculator I’ve come to love over the years is Numi. I keep it open all day every day and it does a pretty good job of bridging the gap between the typical skewmorphic calculator app and scilab or python. It’s a text based calculator th

The rule of law is authoritarian by definition. So authoritarian vs authoritarian? Anyway you’re wrong. There are a good number of left wing engineers out there but they’re outnumbered by libertarian chuds in the industry.
