Thats a fair point. I just flew to Europe for <$600 on a direct flight. Pretty sure that wasn’t even possible in the 90s, adjusted for inflation. Prices are definitely lower and more competitive. The experience has gotten somewhat worse

Steve Jobs had at least enough product sense to avoid releasing the iPhone and iPod for years while they were in early development. Meta has none of this. Apple succeeded (and succeeds still) because of the company’s culture of obsessivenes

There has to be a book or two that explores this! The closest thing I can recall is the Animatrix/Matrix series exploring the concept of blotting the sun out with some sort of artificial clouds.

Imagine a world without skin cancer by launching giant space sails is like saying: imagine a world without white people. People have evolutionarily adapted to the sun by producing melanin in their skin, but for some reason aerospace is the

Not to offend, but there are plenty of these sorts of live cultural experiences for Gen Z that maybe you aren’t aware of and captivate millions of young audiences. Kissing and holding hands in the 60s seems like an artifact of a decade of u

R. Crumb was authentic. That said, I think “canceling” has more meaning behind it than you might think. Bill Cosby was an inauthentic and visible symbol of the black middle class and “canceled” among media types because his messy real life

It seems like the western world has the exact opposite housing policy to China. China has completely built out cities just waiting for hundreds of millions of people to move in, but we enrich boomers by subsisting and effectively subsidizin

I can attest firsthand from having worked alongside journalists that almost all have never daily driven a Tesla and are incentivized by their bosses to write contrarian articles ~ which leads to a whole lede about how journalists are underp

The internet was certainly not mainstream at the time of that interview. Maybe somewhere along the early adopter curve, if anything. Bill Gates became famous for founding Microsoft, which listed for an IPO in 1986, way before the internet

It wasn’t a failure. The first time I got COVID I was sick for three long arduous weeks. A few years later, the second time I got COVID ~ after having rounds of the mRNA vaccines, I was only sick for a week or so. No fever, no loss of taste

Regardless of your feelings about tax dollars, I hate to break it to you, but the UC system hasn’t being subsidized by California in decades. Something like 15-20% comes from the state. Maybe that’s part of the problem.
