Thanks for the link! Very good video indeed and I'll have to look into some more of his videos. Very funny and well presented.

Aha I see what you mean - that's great. ((check out the second-last item in the gallery))

Note AFAIK WA is e2e encrypted BUT they can flag any weird looking messages (weird patterns etc) to see and review their contents. So I think Meta/WA can opt to decrypt any suspicious messages they come across.

Wow I vaguely remember that reddit thread and I think I felt a bit confused about it. Seemed like such an OTT reaction to something that should be handled internally - and then for a public statement you would keep it short, sweet and indir

I think "Instant Apps"[1] are/were meant to be the Android analog, but I haven't seen them used anywhere. Also can't find any proof that they are still a thing... except for this[2] sketchy looking app that has 1 bi

Could be your adblocker sometimes blocking them, other times not? Though it probably is some bug or... rapid A/B testing thing Google has going on.

And who knows, maybe they still plan on putting HEVC support in their release notes at some point. My "new features in this update" section is often 6+ months delayed - as in I will have had access to a feature for 6+ months befor

Interestingly, a couple minutes before WA went down my messages were being sent while only displaying a single tick (as in the other parties could see my single-tick messages). Thought it was quite weird/concerning that that could happ

All of Captain Disillusion's videos are great but this one seemed more technical than most - thought that could make it a good candidate to post to HN. There's some good discussion about it on Reddit too[1] [1] https://

Yeah I'm not sure how anyone's meant to find something impressive to look at when there's a layer of vaseline over all of it. Maybe there's a higher quality version being served to some Twitter users.

I'm late to this but just wanted to mention - I'm checking out the extension and like it quite a lot. Only feedback I have right now (that I haven't seen anyone else mention) is that I'm finding it hard to jump to the ne

If I had the money I'd probably get one of the more expensive Sony phones. They seem great, at least in theory.

This looks great but I'm surprised there isn't any % of the paid money going to charities, good causes or something. I'd like something like this that pays into my retirement, a long-term investment or donates to charity, wit

Your first point is fair I guess but nothing to worry about really. The up-front cost is virtually zero (just find a friend to agree to do this with you), so if your friend wants to bail you could try find another friend. Your second point

Isn't "swatting" just the practice of calling 911 and saying e.g. "I'm at [streamer's neighbour's address] and there were gunshots fired at my neighbour's house! Please send armed police!"? I don

Will always have a soft spot for CK! My dad introduced me to Keen, Prince of Persia (and other classics like Doom and Wolfenstein etc.) when I was tiny. I still recall how he contrasted the comical/arcade-y movement in Keen to the &quo

DoxBox does IMO work well on Android but it's clunky to set up - you likely need some variant of a "hacker keyboard" installed to make initial setups easier for games, and then AFAIK you'll probably need to also install

Off-topic but the wording in that ad struck me as odd. May as well go with something more direct like "Flexport is hiring big-ego no-lifers".

I would think the same for some products but AFAIK those Ecoflow batteries are quite fancy. I printed a document using one and generally printers hate running off generator power.
