IMO Slack threads are quite good. I'm sure it depends on your use case etc., but in my work context I find they function really well. I did try test some concepts around Slack/Discord threads serving as entire "discussions&qu

IMO if you want a personal pic on your blog it could make sense to move it to your About page. For actual blog posts/other content that contains pictures, it makes sense that those take up more space than 14kb - probably nothing to wor

Agreed, IMO it's silly and almost feels like a dark pattern for an innocuous seeming link like that to require an extension installed. For those who already have the extension, see [1] [1] https://i.imgur.com/NfOYhDu.pn

No mention of Black Mirror in the comments yet - I'm surprised! A lot of the other theorising here runs right alongside the premise of one of the stories told in the White Christmas episode[1]. IIRC the episode was very well done, as m

If I leave this apartment in a worse state (besides fair wear and tear) than it was when I started renting it, the cost of repair will be on me via a portion of my rental deposit that I won't get back. Sure fair wear and tear does cost

Yeah this probably is the best bet. Will be keeping in mind as I save up money and figure out where I want to settle down.

Currently I'm unsure where I will/want to settle down. I also manage to save some money monthly, which I invest in diverse markets. So my thinking is that at there isn't (or "shouldn't be") any rush for me to b

Hilarious sure, but also sad and concerning. I'm tentatively alright with the idea of renting forever and never owning property... but with rent increasing and investors buying up more and more property, it looks like things will get u

MS Access has awful UX. I've used it on and off over the years and can never find my 'flow state' as nothing in that program seems to flow at all. If MS prioritised working on it it may have helped lift some people out of Exc

Thanks, took a while to find but seems the version to go for is their Community Edition[1]. Had a look at a recent tutorial and it looks great! [1] https://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/plmapp/education/soli...

Sweet, will look into those, thanks. I just spent a while in wonder at a node-based parametric design tool for Blender called Sverchok[1] - looks super powerful but wayyyy too much for my 3D printing toothbrush holders and phone stands haha

Thanks for the link - that's crazy. And awful. Wonder how true it is that you only get a couple of weeks in jail for stealing a car (in Milwaukee at least)...

I'm guessing/hoping you're able to click on those comments once you make an account and login... either way though I agree it's a silly restriction.

I'm late to this thread but wanted to ask in case anyone sees this and has a specific recommendation: Is there a good free/cheap alternative to F360 for me? I use Fusion 360 to model simple things for 3d printing. I've gotten

Because it's been in the news I consume, I guess. I saw a diagram like this [1] somewhere, perhaps a John Oliver video. It seems Texas is on their own grid and I think wherever I learned that mentioned that Texas has not been maintaini

I am South African and absolutely hate load shedding. 2 or 4 hours without electricity every day (when LS is active), often over dinnertime and other times you'd like to use electricity. Makes life much more meh. FWIW I think Texas had

I loved this[1] recent video by DIY Perks and think you would enjoy it too. He essentially builds a housing for a lens with a massive aperture. [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cT0jXI7l4E
