> I haven't done the math to figure out how much water this is From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metabolic_water > Humans obtain only about 8-10% of their water needs through metabolic water production

> Ok. So what do we do with the disenchanted youth? Tell them that: > Being in a job is not required for mental health. > Employment is not a right. Your entire argument is a giant contradiction.

> There is no need to fret about massive costs. Can you explain this considering that you're adding 15 years of financial support that need to be paid for and also additionally increasing that cost by making it compulsory?

Mandatory retirement means that you're prohibiting people from working. It's such an infringement on personal liberty that it's politically laughable to propose it. Keep in mind that most politicians are over the 50 year age

> mandatory age of retirement This makes so little sense that I have no idea why it's in the question at all and why it's compared to UBI.

It's not an emotional reaction - we have plenty of evidence about the negative impact of dehydration and no substantial evidence in favor of it. > After realizing that water is a byproduct of catabolism, I'm willing to entertai

Exactly. Maybe I wasn't clear in my comment above. My point is that most resources on intermittent fasting allow (and actually encourage) drinking a lot of water, and rightfully so. At the same time a lot of the research is done on sub

Yes, because they selected subjects who were observing Ramadan and that makes their study easier to carry out. My point is that the dehydration is counterproductive.

A very important difference is that you can't drink water during a Ramadan fast. Regardless of what you're doing with your food, deliberately dehydrating yourself is pretty much never justified.

You can log in with Apple ID, never share your email and remove the app from your account whenever you please. If that's too intrusive for you, I'm surprised that you've managed to sign up to HN so you can write a comment.

It's hard to think of individual episodes that stand out - the level of the podcast is pretty consistent and the hosts are just nice company. If you're looking for a starting episode, I would start from the first one.

I'm not reducing GPT-3 to the extent that you're suggesting. I'm pointing out (and so does LeCun in his post) that it's a language model designed to continue a sequence of words. It has no understanding of the world and

Not even remotely close. The difference is so big that it's almost harmful to the discussion to compare the way humans think (which we still don't have great understanding of) and the way language models work.

It's nice to hear from someone who knows what they're talking about that GPT-3 is just a fancy and expensive autocomplete. The hype in some circles about it went as far as comparing it to AGI at some point which is just ridiculous

I kind of agree, not because cheaper earphones are good but because how disappointing the noise cancelling on the expensive models is. According to most reviewers the best pair right now is the Sony WH-1000XM4 and I ended up returning them

That sounds like the worst of everything - you won't be getting the benefit of having someone who can explain things to you in person (kind of wasting a teacher) and you also won't have the opportunity that KA gives you to take
