I feel like landing in water could be just as dangerous, because if you do survive the fall, you then have to make sure you don't drown.

I suppose I just don't see the difference between the two. I guess I could see how one could say slavery existed because of the racist systems and policies, but I just don't think the article needs to make that distinction since t

My dog intentionally turns on my PS4 in the morning. When she turns on the PS4 it automatically turns on the TV and will play the soothing main menu music. We aren't sure if she does it for the music, the light from the TV, or the beep

I had my house broken into once and they just used a crowbar. My neighbor heard them do it, but assumed someone was just doing some work outside. I get why people are hard on smart locks, but I really don't see them as any more insecur

While I get your point about guns in Alaska (I am assuming you mean there aren't mass shootings happening there), I think your overall statement is misguided. Alaska has the highest suicide rate [1] and second highest murder rate per c

My exposure from the word was from listening to The Roots, a rap group from Philadelphia. I was able to use context clues to assume the word was mixed purpose, but didn't get confirmation until I searched for it years after hearing it.

It's incredibly lazy, but unsurprising. I find the people who talk about advertisements so dramatically on HN intersect really nicely with the kind of people whose day is ruined because the free bagels their company provided that day d

After reading articles talking about this, I felt dumb for never noticing it before. There are plenty of articles that talk about it, but this is one of my favorites [1]. The connection to Lana's suicide attempt as a young adult and th

The actual problem with RTS games from a longevity standpoint are actually the same problems fighting games have: 1. It's a 1v1 game, so you either are playing alone, or if you want to play with a friend, you have to fight each other.
