Thanks for highlighting the real issue: an abundance of guns on random encounters. I’ve heard it also leads to a lot of PTSD showing up to the aftermath of cases where cops aren’t directly pointed at, but they still have to deal with the go

These stories always surprise me. Somehow the culprit is AI, yet grown men handcuff a child when there is no gun. The bar for becoming a cop in the US must be really low.

https://rstrict.cloud/ is a CLI built in Rust on top of the Landlock API for the Linux kernel. It lets you narrow the permission scope of an executable using simple command line wrappers.

I switched to `ack` in 2017 because it handles recursive searches better. I didn't bother switching to `ag` when it came around because of having to retrain. But eventually I did switch to `rg` because it just has so many conveniences.

I wouldn’t be able to express the embedded irony if I didn’t use this oxymoron. On the one hand, AI doesn’t classify as labor in a traditional sense, even though some aspire to replace labor with AI. On the other hand, if it classified as l

There is an acquisition cost of researching and developing the LLM, but the running cost should not be classified as a wage, hence cost of labor is zero.

I love how the promise of free labor motivates everyone to become API first, document their practices, and plan ahead in writing before coding.

You can have regular shell infix pipes combined with Lisp/Scheme macros as control flow. I think the tradeoff that Schemesh is nice, even though it does sacrifice POSIX: The best of both worlds of shell and Lisp is quick ability to run

I did a poll in my CS class last year and half the students knew of it. This is a trade school level CS class so the number struck me as impressive. In another light, it is pretty low.

Using LLMs as an extra backup buffer sounds really neat. But I was trained with editing files in telnet over shaky connections, before Vim had auto-backup. You learn to hit save very frequently. After 3 decades I still reflexively hit save

I don’t mind it because I can enable planning mode and it will (mostly) not modify things. Claude will sometimes dump very exact file content into a plan.md when I ask it to write its plan down which is annoying.

Probably simultaneously, LLMs will perpetuate faulty MVPs that need fixing for the viber economy, while at the same time, all those AI engineering problems get solved, but only for those who know how to ask.
