Why not just use GNU parallel? `parallel gzip ::: file1 file2` I wish there was a standard for this type of stuff. So that an app will check for existing child spawns and act accordingly (IPC).

Guys. This is my problem with reading white papers. People use notations and assumptions which I am not familiar with. Hence, I have to go decipher what people are trying to day. There needs to be a course for math notation. Is there a book
