I've had a similar thing happen to me, but I was able use a python script to pull the (hidden, old) files from a cache on my machine. http://www.dropboxwiki.com/TipsAndTricks/RestoreFilesAndDire...

I'm seeing this ploy more and more - come join us, and if you're awesome we'll fund you and help you get set up. But the pitch doesn't scale (unless you're not just running a company, but also an investment firm). Is there a place for a com

There's something interesting in #2: if you look at the examples, AOL was the expensive choice, which won. Today, I see the same thing playing out with github(expensive) over bitbucket(cheap). Selling expensive stuff makes you able to throw

I think it's really about the cost of visual search, which simply doesn't scale to 76 icons.

I think the real "customer pain" is that having a ton of apps leads to more difficult visual search. You want hipstamatic, but you have no idea which screen it's on. I already use iOS's app search as my default method of finding most apps,

I think you don't understand individuals. We just want to eat - Individual developers really only care about making money. If a fart app is going to make an individual developer good money, nothing you can say will stop them from being made

I didn't mean that the founder would start posting employee groups up for sale, I meant that A-level developers would find other A-level developers and band together to get a few million as a signing bonus.

Developers know who other superstar developers are. If you allowed superstars at different companies to band together and market themselves as a team, that might be interesting.

This is a really interesting idea. If developers can be sold as a group, why aren't we seeing group recruiting websites, where you can buy a team?

I think a lot of engineers are trying really hard to produce value for their employers, and that this level of discourse seems to do so but really doesn't. Your "stakeholders" really only care about their business making money. The truth is

Can you imagine doing that every single day of your life(putting the monitor face down on the desk surface, then bringing it back up)? This is engineering - I think we can come up with something better (like your monitor mount idea).

It looks cool, but the marketing doesn't address the fact that most people have laptops and desktop monitors on their desks. Nobody will want to take their desktop+laptop off the desk everytime they go into their bed - 7 inches of height (c

mFoundry's business is essentially "get advanced mobile apps for your bank on every platform", with ~30-day turn around. I used to code mFoundry's platform and mobile apps, and I can tell you that this deal is a potential game changer for d

It seems a little weird that someone who loves movies doesn't hear about them through any other sources. While I wanted to sign up for some of the movies, I knew I'd see ads for them on TV, or at bus stops when they launched. I've literally

I know you didn't ask for product feedback, but I think your product has a problem: You need early adopters to start using it, but early adopters naturally hear about the news and developments that you claim to deliver. In otherwords, I sha

I have to agree. When I saw pricing, I laughed and said to myself: "Here's someone taking patio11's advice.". I think it would be an easier sell if you 1) stop talking about "overlay" as a feature (only talk about BENEFITS. Also overlay ma

I think people want to give physical things and experiences, which you can't really do by just giving money, especially money that can't be spent for decades. That's why you can give someone a Starbucks gift card, but it's not good to give

It's 240 for 3 years with the MBA. If you save almost that amount on getting the cheaper craigslist version, why not spend what you've saved to get a MBA that you know will be covered for 2+ years? (assuming you got one that's under 1 year

I'm kinda surprised that this article doesn't consider extra costs, like taxes and (if in CA), recycling fee. When you're buying things that cost around $1200 (macbook air), you'll "save" around $200 by buying on craigslist.
