Isn't this fundamentally the same problem as ad blockers? Which is essentially a solved problem

Why couldn't there be a crowdsourced list of ips to block similar to adblocker? You could set flags of IPs to block based on your preferences

I actually completely agree. I am learning OpenBSD and the man pages are very good, but all too often I find myself reading them, beating my head against the wall, and then googling or using tdlr or gippity. For example, I just was digging

This is very cool! I am mildly disappointed that it isn't called Wikipedia Brown. Despite this, great work

Never heard of Mezzano until today, looks neat! Do you run in a VM? How much general purpose computing do you do in it?

I have not tried Zorin, but it is near the top of distros I would give to a "set it and forget it" non-techie. Anybody have a top 5 list for distros in this realm? I'm an Artix / OpenBSD guy these days and I feel like I&

Hi, I think this is great. I've really enjoyed working with Jetzig, which is sort of similar. I also love the BSD C CGI Postgres stack. I'm just a CRUDmonkey with mostly python skills, so getting to explore low language and memory

I couldn't get iOS notifications to work properly when I tried to set up ejabberd. Ended up using Hey, and it works pretty well, I guess, but a rails PWA is a little heavy duty for my taste, I would prefer XMPP

Aesthetically this beats about 75% of the current laptop market. Would love to see some genuine creativity / cyberdeck type builds from laptop makers

> I use Omarchy, btw. I've been thinking about this comment all day trying to decide if this was an unironic "I use Arch btw" or an intentional homage, but it made me laugh a lot

I remember downloading apps for the TI83 but I only did basic coding stuff in them for extra credit. I genuinely would ask, how do I have fun? Maybe this is a generational thing, but like where would start? I'm interested in demoscene

I bought a Picocalc and I have to confess I don't know what to do with it. Picomite looks like a pretty awesome and capable BASIC implementation, but it doesn't seem like there's any wifi capability at all. I suppose I could

You know, I used Retool a lot, and it made me think that I'd actually really like a modern Microsoft Access. Kind of an open source Google Forms/ Access where you could deploy front ends very quickly and have it hit a DB

I agree with this. However, I have a Starlabs convertible tablet, which I have just not gotten comfortable with on Arch. I've considered going the sxmo route, but the volume buttons aren't that good. So I'm thinking maybe KDE

Tangental - could you deploy something like webtorrent which uses seeds, mitigating a DDOS attack? Is this what IPFS would theoretically do, if web gateways were not used?

Does anybody remember the architecture that account _unwriter was creating on Bitcoin? You could write a transaction from anywhere using and store data in it. Then you could read it through an API of either a full node or a node that was on

Its basically LARBS or an autoricing script. But its happening in kind of a cultural moment where Linux gaming is good enough and Windows is bad enough for people to see ricing and say "I want that!" I think it is function follows

Could somebody give a high level overview of this for me, as not a godev? It looks like Go JSON lib has support to encode native go structures in JSON, which is cool, but maybe it was bad, which is not as cool. Do I have that right?

I think this would be excellent. There's a whole class of websites /landing pages which right now Astro seems to be filling that niche. It's mind boggling how hard it is to do basic components on the web

OK, this seems like an absolutely valid use case. Big enterprise microservice architecture, I get it. If you have islands of dev teams, and a dedicated CI/CD dev ops team, then this makes more sense. But this puts you in a league with

Sorry, sir, I didn't realize nobody should ever spend any time learning anything or, failing that, describe what happened to them during that time. I'm no neckbeard savant but I do have a dozen years of deploying web apps and also
