I wish it could be as simple as FB sharing ad revenue with the news site. On YouTube 55% of ad revenue goes to the creator. In their new YouTube shorts revenue share model, the record companies get a cut based on how many videos use copyrig

The point of Tailwind is that it curates the useful subset of CSS into a nice DSL. Not unlike Typescript and type systems. I'll learn about any of the stuff that makes its way into Tailwind release notes and Tailwind docs. Anything els

Do you index arrays? What index type is that? Any tips? I’ve used array column in PG before, haven’t indexed arrays though.

The Serializer class is the worst frameworky piece I know of. These are basically classes which force you to use overridden methods to link HTTP with DB operations. Requires tons of hacks to work around all the time. And just cuz it’s optio

How do you figure 20 drinks takes only 20 hours to process? I use a BAC calculator test, for a 70kg person 20 shots takes more than 40 hours to reach 0 BAC. (My drivers license requires 0 BAC so I’m aware of one beer taking about 2.5 hours

Racket has for/list and even for/fold. They’re just different syntax for map and foldl. I prefer them to the functional versions sometimes so I don’t have to write lambda, the for loops have options for combining multiple lists, e

This article is a smorgasbord of cliche outrage topics... I'll just say at least in Canada, first time home buyers can get 5% down payment, so the "takes 10-20 years longer to get a 20% down payment" point doesn't make s

Your understanding may fit, actually. If the one-off hack is easy to add, it doesn't need refactoring to add it. Maybe ten or twenty one-off hacks can be added before anything gets difficult. It's only later that things become dif

One of the few reasonable comments in this thread. Hooks are better than HOCs, no this is better than managing this, and dependency arrays are better than if (this.props.fooBarBaz !== newProps.fooBarBaz || this.props.onFooBarBazChanged !==

Do you use glibc backtraces for stack tracing? I don't use C much, i guess that may be standard. or something else? Also, can you describe the queries you run against this SQLite? Is it interactive use or do you have any jobs or charts

My reason for liking MariaDB is that MySQL uses a B-Tree for primary storage. In Postgres if you want a table with large keys, you have to store them twice once in the index once in primary storage (hash table). In MySQL there’s no hash tab

In Postgres you can use AS NIT MATERIALIZED to avoid the temp buffers. A recent PG version also makes this default, but only when the CTE is only queried once later. This can definitely cause issues. I’ve seen queries with CTEs that basical
