What other explanation is there for this other than some type of china-USA (or global) conspiracy? I suppose it’s the threat of TikTok paving the way for non App Store deployments. Reducing power of the app stores. Or maybe it’s US companie

The above comment is a good example of non constructive ways to say no. Anybody could reject any RFC with the reasons you gave (especially with the vague “bunch of other issues” catch all). So I’d say, yes, you can say no, if there’s specif

With base64 you have around 6 bits per character. M$ edge max url length is shortest now at about 2038 characters. If you can drop support for edge, the next highest is Android browser at 8k. 8k characters gives you around 6000 bytes to enc

I'm sure enough people make compilers from scratch to avoid this issue. Yeah, most people bootstrap using a pre-existing compiler, but I know at least one person who compiled their initial compiler to ASM by hand before using it.

By now flash and Java applets are in this category too Edit: never mind, these are dead now, but they definitely took off in their day.

what's the advantage of DoH? I personally use Timescale magicDNS on all my devices, with pihole DNS running on a home server. The magicDNS can make my home server the 1st responder for DNS queries and it'll block a lot of ad domai

The VPS option won’t be €50. I have a small vps for like $10/month. Setup a VM. Install SQLite and caddy on it. Choose an async server framework Node or python quart or something. Add a table to your SQLite, saved_games(id,json). Add t

This attitude defeats the scientific method! There’s a motivating state of inspiration prior to evidence collection. It’s the hunch. Every scientific development begins at a hunch. More or less, what I’m referring to above, is the generaliz

Fair enough re migrations. That’s annoying Faire used ghost for MySQL migrations in 2018. We’d run some migrations in a blocking fashion if they were on a smaller table, but the smaller ones still took a few seconds. I suspect the delay wou

I suppose certain types of stupidity and/or ignorance could also derive that conclusion, tools which I consider important for philosophy as well.

I’m not really bickering about names here, just trying to succinctly describe ideas. The irony of the GGP comment is that it claims mathematical ideas are successful ones and philosophical ones aren’t, but that’s not a mathematical claim. S

I disagree my friend. CS is math; they aren’t separate. The topics are at the core, not on the fringe. And if we need infinity to understand the small objects, then infinity is more important than the small objects themselves.

The quirky coercion rules that PG, MySQL, SQL server and oracle also all follow? Let’s be clear, if this is a problem it’s a problem with all SQL DBs, not just SQLite. I’m curious why ‘123’ in an INT column is so bad? I suspect the conversi

SQLite does have strict typing and check constraints, I suspect the R*Tree module with check constraints would provide rectangular exclusion, though not circles. Have any applications you’ve build needed both of these features?

Proving non existence uses some type of law of excluded middle. It’s a very concrete and computable style of argument, although its subjects may not be.

The halting problem itself is not computable, that doesn’t mean the proof that it’s not computable isn’t itself computable.

Fair enough I guess. I don’t think you need two servers to do zero downtime upgrades. And the other issues are, imo, beyond the 0.99 uptime threshold that most services realistically have when you add in breakage due to upgrades. I like you

This view of CS seems to exclude two of the most important topics - undecidability and NP hardness. the main techniques in both of these areas require infinite sets. For undecidability, it’s the infinite set of proposed halting problem TMs,

Why learn Postgres when you could just learn SQLite and have a database that is virtually guaranteed to be enough in almost all cases (and as sister comment says, is more efficient and more secure)?
