The author touches on something I've often thought about - the crazy ethnolinguistic diversity within the Austro-Hungarian empire and the fringes of the Russian one. Consider Lviv - Polish, Austrian, and Ukranian; Catholic, Orthodox, a

Indeed. They purchased FingerWorks[1], a maker of obscure touchpad-based keyboards, in order to get their touchpad experts. Most other companies would just integrate Synaptic's reference design and call it a day. 1: https://

The default golang flag package ( https://golang.org/pkg/flag/ ) does not implement gnu-style long-with-shortcut options. Instead, one and two-dash arguments are identical. For example, -enable-pants and --enable-pa

There is an excellent tutorial from LWN about network namespaces also: https://lwn.net/Articles/580893/ - SubgraphOS uses network namespaces to isolate individual processes (and route all connections over Tor). As

That's a very reasonable position, especially with Comcast. Comcast has, in fact, led the IPv6 charge in terms of sizable US ISPs. The flip side of that coin is they have the money to invest in the engineering costs. I assume they did

2Q is clever, but certainly not the only improvement over LRU for page caching. Of interest, also, is LIRS, which uses the timing between the last two accesses to decide on a caching strategy. There is a good comparison of page caching algo

An enlightening example is to consider people's perceptions of New York City. The popular perception / comedian's perspective I remember of the 2000s was that NYC was also a shithole, where you would be mugged at the drop of

From my experience, phone plans in the US today are kind of like rent-controlled apartments: The prices for new entrants keep going up, so you have a very strong disincentive to switch plans. I have a 4-or-so year old plan with a major carr
