Nano definitely seems like a good choice if they're looking at it from the perspective of a less experienced user who just needs to modify a few lines in a config file. As you said, anyone who needs a more advanced editor probably know

For sure. I was mostly referring to online "deals" with my comment, but it definitely applies to phone solicitation, too. I personally ignore almost any phone call from unknown numbers these days because so many are scammy or robo

At this point I just assume that any deal that looks too good to be true probably is. There's been a few times where I've found out after the fact that the deal really was real, but I'd rather miss out on a good deal than get

Well, at least they're getting out, even if it's not driven by true environmental concern. BlackRock taking that step seems like it has/will set the stage for other, smaller organizations to follow.

According to the uLisp site [0], there are actually already implementations for both the ESP32 and 8266 (linked to the 8266 page). It’s definitely awesome how cheap such powerful stuff is these days. [0] http://www.ulisp.com/

I found the site for the brewery that's making it, and they don't have any links to buy it yet, sadly. They'd make a killing if they figured out a way to ship it to people.

It's at least interesting that it's close-ish to current entry-level MacBook Air performance, even with Geekbench running under Rosetta. Seems like that would indicate that the real chips they'll be using in laptops and deskt

Yeah, this is really cool. WiFi hardware is one of those things that I find even a lot of more "techy" people like you'll find on HN view as a black box. It's awesome when someone aggregates a bunch of information and th

I love that we've reached the point now where you can just book a flight on a rocket for your payload. Can't wait to see what the next decade or so brings, as more new launch vehicles are developed.

Projects like this always excite me, both because of their immediate impact on the people and nations affected and because they feel like a good reminder of what humanity can do when we collectively put our minds to something. If humans can

That's what I thought, too. Hopefully the team that was working on Atom has gotten/will get a chance to bring some of its components/features to VS Code if it doesn't already have them.

It's definitely worse than H2's ISP in an NTR, but ~600s is still a solid boost over the ~450s that's about the best a practical LOX/LH2 chemical engine can do. My curiosity is essentially just whether the performance lo

I'm just an armchair space enthusiast, but both of those problems seem like they have possible workarounds or solutions. Using methane instead of hydrogen could significantly reduce the required tank volume since CH4 is denser, and you

Barring slippage, they're supposed to have three more launches before the end of June, which would put them on track for 24 this year. They seem to be well on their way to matching 173, based on their current record and high flight rat

Wow. Didn't know that existed. Hard to see what legitimate, user-serving purpose that would serve. Or at least how the good of it's inclusion would outweigh possible harms.

I think it's one of those things where it sounds good as an idea but breaks down in implementation. "Let's design a port/interconnect standard that does everything " is great in concept, but one manufacturer or ano

Assuming SpaceX actually manages to build a sustainable business with Starlink, it will be interesting to see if anyone else is able to overcome the cost of launch services to build up their own. SpaceX seems to have a huge competitive moat

I've found that, in my social groups, "Liked" gets used as an acknowledgement for anything that doesn't require further discussion. Seems to clear up group chats of endless OKs back and forth, so I'm all for it.

I was under the impression that cross-satellite laser links would be coming with second-generation version of the satellites, as opposed to the first operational batches that've been launching. Has that changed?

If I were an energy investor, I would be extremely wary of anything Enron's former CEO touches. I'm honestly surprised he's trying to stay in that part of the market or even in finance at all.
