I don't disagree, but privacy extensions do not solve the problem of tracking, only alleviate it since there are still ways to be tracked. In any case believe a stateful solution like DHCPv6 is better for deployment anyway.

I think IPv6 privacy extensions are a bit overrated in their usefulness. What I mean, at least for most residential deployments, is that the first 64 bits (the prefix) is the same no matter what you do with the last 64. Even if the exact IP

You'd think that a technology-oriented magazine like wired would at least try to aim for cross-browser compatibility in their infrastructure. But why bother, make your CMS Chrome-only a policy and free yourself of extra testing. And it

This is kind of the feeling I have too. I remember firefox in the 2.x and 3.x days when you could do practically anything XUL and XPCOM. I also remember that firefox was dead slow back then. Although I am kind of dissapointed that so much f

Exactly! Microtransactions are there to grab the big spenders. Mobile "games" follow this pattern to the extreme. For example some guy spent $1M playing a mobile game ([0] and HN discussion [1]). Honestly I don't understand w

I've played a lot of my games in my life so far but very few, if any, have matched the thrill of landing on Mun for the first time (and making it back).

Almost all journals have an RSS feed. I just subscribe to a dozen or so major journals. Add a web feed reader as well you can skim through them easily, or save up the more interesting ones for later.

Exactly the same thing happens in Greece. It used to be very common for shop-owners to "forget" to give you the receipt. After the crisis broke up though people are way more likely to ask for receipts as there are some incentives

If you run a server you pretty much need to expose your IP one way or another anyway, even in IPv4. Well, I suppose you can use something like dynamic dns but still... I totally agree, though, anonymity is not part of IP. I was not implying

You can still track the prefix though. In a standard /64 deployment only the suffix will change so there is still some information leaking if you have a static prefix (obviously, as in static IPv4). However, my ISP defaults to dynamic
