this is not true. the promise of k8s led many companies to believe that individual dev teams can now manage their own infra and it’s been a giant mess. almost no one had the expertise or patience to properly manage their clusters. my compan

Yeah this sounds like trying to dramatize what is normal business operations. There's going to be politics at any company larger than a sole-proprietorship. The fact they stayed for 6 years is honestly a remarkable retention assuming t

It’s really not. Tech stocks are bought and sold on hype and often move +/- 5% on any normal day. 10% the day after an IPO is nothing.

Could use a [2013] tag, but this story is fascinating and horrifying and I re-read it every time it pops up. It's a textbook case of why a solid CI/CD pipeline is vital.

Is it just me or is every big release from Uber just a custom rewrite of an existing technology? It seems their engineering department has a large not-invented-here attitude. I could be wrong - they're certainly large enough to have cu

I've seen the same attitude a lot of times. "I was an investment banker for 10 years but then I moved to Colorado and became a ski bum and I couldn't be happier!" Like alright man live your life but stop acting like you

Ethics aside, this actually sounds kind of fun to me. It's the kind of clever puzzle solving many of us love about programming - it's basically a cat and mouse game.
